Yeah revisited Adrenaline recently and my opinion has remained that’s it’s a solid aggressive debut with RIFFS. One Weak and Minus Blindfold have always been special songs for me.

Also that boring song list was bad imo but it started some great conversations and good posts and I liked much of it.

DE has been a very interesting album in their discography and I can see now longtime fans could put it in the middle or lower end of their ranking. However there was something so magical about being a fan when that album came out. Right on the cusp of summer ‘10. The band sounded so rejuvenated. Chino looked the most healthy he looked in years. Songs like Sextape and 976 Evil having these romantic lyrics about Chi. I remember hearing that chino scream on Royal for the first time whilst playing the Halo Reach beta and I was just absolutely in shock.

I like Adrenaline, but I don't think I've listened to it in full since I first started getting into Deftones.

see I agree totally that being a fan when DE dropped was special, and I still look back on that time very fondly. I actually got into the band just shortly before that cycle, and so it was my first new Deftones album as a fan. I even rated the album very highly when it came out. just with time, it’s really cooled on me, and overall I prefer the band’s darker and heavier offerings.

    hmmm

Adrenaline destroys from start to finish. It's just a (Terry) dated production job. Abe is shockingly proficient on that thing.

I'd kill for there to be a song like Lifter on the new album.

Yeah I consider Diamond Eyes to be a true mark of a new era for them. I always kind of assumed fans held that one in high regards

    idk man

Over the last year-ish my ranking has morphed into something like this:

    Koi No Yokan
    Around The Fur
    White Pony
    Diamond Eyes
    Saturday Night Wrist
    S/T
    Gore
    Ohms
    Adrenaline

that said i could post this tomorrow and it would be completely different

I will say, Diamond Eyes has cooled for me a bit too. Obviously, it hasn’t cooled enough for it to be anything less than my second favorite album from them (yet), but it used to be much closer to White Pony for me in my rankings and now it’s much closer to the self-titled. I think it still rules, but I think the band has higher highs elsewhere in their discography. I quite enjoy the consistency of DE overall though

  11. It really is my favorite some days. My first new album as a Deftones fan as well.

Yeah that was the one I entered in on. White Pony was the first album I listened to from them back in 2011, but I’ll always have a soft spot for DE and KNY as the album cycles I came in on

Oh, I forgot - "RX Queen" is pretty boring too!

"Street Carp" - closest thing to pop-punk in the Deftones catalog?
