Haha. Even if I disagreed - it’s just damn good writing.

I’m going to a Taylor Swift night tonight that was actually planned before the album announcement. I’m intrigued to see how they weave in the new album. My brother thinks they’re going to play it front to back.

listened all the way through at work and have been listening with my wife at home and i guess my take is that i like it but there have also been 3 or 4 albums released these past few weeks that will probably continue to hold my attention a bit better

Stopped by the record store and cackled when I saw that she had so many variants each with a unique song (priced at $47 each).

Its like I’m collecting comics in the 90s.

Anyway, I bought the Black Dog variant because I liked the cover best.

So Long London played loud makes my heart feel like it's going to explode, that pulsing beat world make it an underrated workout song

By the way, the Chappell Roan hate in here earlier - first question, how dare you?

I would love to see what Dan Nigro could unlock with Taylor.

This ruled and honestly (perhaps counterintuitively) made me more interested in spending time with this album, lol.

  16. Death threats for reviews? How very 2003.

  17. (also this thing is 31 songs I can’t imagine coming close to being able to review it with any depth for a week at least)

I don’t have it on wax either. Maybe I’ll grab it tomorrow on my Record Store Day runs.

As a fellow verbose lunatic, I have a soft spot for Taylor’s uber-wordy era. That said, some of these songs really buckle under the weight of all the language, and it makes me really want her return-to-country album. I think of that song “The Architect” from the new Kacey Musgraves album and really want to hear Taylor (and a new team of co-writers) take on the challenge of writing with that kind of economy again. We’re really in the “All Too Well 10-minute version” timeline, but just like the original version of that song is better and more devastating with less *stuff* I think she could benefit from trying to pare it down, lyrically.

There was a conversation earlier about how to consider this, two albums, main album and deluxe, etc. While she does say artistically it's two albums, by all technical accounts it's one album and a deluxe. On the charts, every stream from both halves contribute to one album total. Only one album is charting, not two. Same with award show submissions, one album.

So what was the midnight surprise at that record store?
