I started the sequel beta read yesterday.

Both books (and like ten of @angrycandy
‘s poetry books) are all books I played a small part in and they deserve a spot in my personal library. Time to give Amazon a bunch of money!

@theagentcoma, related to what you've been saying in the writing thread, if you want another fantasy beta reader after this round of revisions you just started, let me know. I've been meaning to offer it for awhile.

My hard copy is on the way also, says it's gonna be here tomorrow, which is crazy haha

I finished The Tainted Cup the other day, but I am on vacation from work for a few days so I actually had a chance to read that I don't usually have, so I was looking for something at my library to hold me over and I picked up something that is kinda out of my wheelhouse: The Six-Gun Tarot by R.S. Belcher. The book jacket describes it as a Weird Western and it looked like a quick read so I pulled the trigger. I finished it in a a few days and it was really fun. Supernatural horror Western, but nothing too too intense, fun read, cool characters.

I love this! This is my dream for readers of these books.

Eventually I should sell them direct haha. But for now… I appreciate the trickle-down support. And thanks again for all your help. The book’s a lot stronger than it would be otherwise.

    thank you!

the race is on! You might get the first copy!

I'm not writing it off yet, but I struggled with Dungeon Crawler Carl. I have not read anything like it before, and was sort of stuck between being entertained and thinking what on earth is this? I will get back to it, but I was struggling a little bit with it. If it ends up just not being for me, oh well, but I do want to give it an an honest attempt.

I also started the first Muderbot Diaries book and am well on the way to finishing that. I am enjoying it a lot. I have no idea how it will be a TV show considering the whole appeal of the book is the internal dialogue of the murder bot and it seems like it'd be extremely difficult to translate but the author seems on board and it's Apple TV who have a good track record with sci fi lately.

I also am about 10% into Disquiet Gods. I'm an audiobook and reading person, so for the first time in forever, I have 2 series going as the DG audio book isn't out for another week or so. I really need some time to sink into it. As with all the SunEater books, it's been a slow beginning full of set up and moving forward from the last book to this one.

It's my favorite series and Robin Hobb is my favorite author. I hope you enjoy! It's a LONG series (16 books with the side stories) but it's well worth it by the end. The 2nd book in Farseer (Royal Assassin) is fantastic. If you look at the books side by side it's so funny how the first is pretty short and then just explodes in page count from there.

You may already know this, but there are three trilogies that focus on Fitz and The Fool, and there's a separate 3 book series (ship of magic), and a 4 book series (rainwild chronicles) in between. They are all in the same world, and the last Fitz / Fool trilogy is the culmination of the various plot lines so they become more than just 'side' novels. The rainwild chronicles is the weakest by consensus, but if you get into the series, I wouldn't skip anything, and I would read everything in published order. The connections are subtle at first, but definitely there, and they will spoil moments from the other series if you just mainline the Fitz storyline.

It's very bleak at times, but there's some beautiful / introspective writing throughout and the character growth / interactions are the best to me. Fitz can be a frustrating and flawed character, but it really is a massive journey that hits on so many facets of his life.

it took me around a month to eyeball read Disquiet Gods because I really had to take time after some chapters. Can't wait to see what you think. He really goes for it in this one, which is wild for this series.

Also, I wish I liked Murderbot more. I read the first 4 novellas like 4 years ago and haven't gone back.

Thanks! I read Assassins Apprentice a while ago and it wasn't enough for me to continue however I don't think I was emotionally into reading at the time. I'm enjoying a TON more this time round and will definitely be continuing. I'm loving the world and everything so far and it's just going to get better. I don't plan on skipping anything either. I'm a completionist that way!
