Pretty wild the spectrum of opinions on the songs. Usually a good sign.

If she adds the Tortured Poets era to the end of the tour set list I can definitely see her closing out the show with I Can Do It With a Broken Heart

Is enchanted actually about the owl City guy? I thought that was just something he claimed for clout but probably isn't true

a really good example of why internet literacy and context is failing an entire generation of people, haha

(it's a dumb lyric, but in the whole stanza it's 100% fine)

Probably the closest we will ever get to a “some of my fans are insane idiots” record.

  12. nope, it really is...

In her lyric booklets, she used to capitalize "random" letters, and when Swifties would write out the letters, it would spell out a hint as to who it was about or whatever.

For "Enchanted", the capital letters spelled out "ADAM."

If you scroll down past the prologue on this site, you can see what all the Speak Now songs spelled out in the liner notes.

    Maybe they’ll wake up.

  14. But Daddy I Love Him is the kind of like mashup of her early work and her current aesthetic I was expecting to hear more of in the wake of all the TVs. and it's really good

  15. not a chance. they'll find a way to spin it to mean something else haha.

I think it’s hilarious that you wrote this about an hour before she released a surprise second album haha.

    Diving into it now!

I will say... My wife may have cracked some kind of code haha.

While we were waiting for 2 AM to roll around, after we listened to the first half of the album in full, my wife put the "All Too Well" (10 Min version) music video on to kill some time.

Watching it, she noticed that after "the girlfriend" and "the boyfriend" broke up, it says "13 years later", and then shows "the girlfriend" has finished writing a book (which was written on a typewriter.)

Jake G and Taylor broke up in November 2011, which is 13 years ago. "The Manuscript" reallyyy makes it sound like she's written a book.

Wasn't there a big rumor she wrote a book last summer, too, before it turned out to be the BTS book? I think it is only a matter of time.

So many of these lyrics sound like they’re written by someone 18-22 years old. Kind of cringe for a 34yo to be writing some of these.

Also, if you’re going to just continue in the synth pop lane, bring in a producer who can help take that to the next level, it’s sonically so one-note.

The weird relationship she has about making sure people know who songs are about just comes off as a little petty and weird.

  20. Just hit play on this beast for a second listen. I already like "Fortnight" a lot more than I did on first listen.

I feel like "Clara Bow" is being overlooked a bit in initial reactions... but I think it's a very important song for *her* personally. Thematically for the album and her life. "you look like Taylor Swift" verse.

First album is 12/4 Antonoff to Dessner, second album is 4/12. Pretty big split each way.
