So… surprise double album version on vinyl for RSD?

That flow in the singing in Fortnight when Post comes on is bliss. It just sounds right

So Matty did his Matty thing and she was basically like ooo this would be a good album

OMG, I believe you're right, but really wish it wasn't an RSD exclusive. Not into the whole waiting-in-line-super-early for RSD thing. While I normally pass on all the good RSD releases for this reason, this might just be the one that gets me out there.

I never said her music is not good. But how am I supposed to develop a deep emotional connection with her recent work if as soon as I'm familiar with it she's already moving on to the next thing? Also, many people here agree that the sound palette of this album sounds like something we've heard before. But how could she develop her sound if all she does is tour and record? I just think taking a break, living new experiences and letting ideas marinate would greatly benefit her music.

I don't want to get too deep into it, but expecting her to change her sound palette every album is pretty sexist.

People only expect female pop stars to reinvent themselves every "era" whereas male pop stars or male bands or any male artist can easily stay in the same lane for many albums or an entire career and be praised for it.

I'm so glad I have the lyrics for my first listen of the second half, I still need to go through the first half with them.

I feel like this answer is a bit of a cop out. Like, I see your point, I don't think you are wrong. But we are talking about Taylor Swift, an artist who is literally capitalizing on the fact that each of her albums has a distinct sound, aesthetic and subject matter through her Eras Tour. If anything, she is the one creating the expectation that she reinvents herself with every era and reinforcing that narrative. I think my initial point was a pretty reasonable and tame critique there's no need to get so defensive.

I’m always confused about stuff like the 2am drop - so they’re ALL bonus tracks?

Oh that’s fucked then - selling an edition of the album that’s only half of the album? Then surprise releasing the second actual half of the album?

It is strange, I wonder if she'll sell the second half as a physical release or just keep it for streaming?

Judging by the fact it’s only digital, these could all be way newer and not pressed anywhere yet. She keeps us fed. Never going to complain about more work from my favorite artists.

i'm not gonna get my hopes up just yet considering 3am/Til Dawn didn't get vinyl, but given that she's marketing this explicitly as a double album, i'd definitely pick up a copy if she announced one down the line. still probably gonna grab one at Target.

also re: the extra surprise at record stores, my local store not only confirmed the other 3 variants, but said anyone who purchases the album will be entered into a drawing for a "surprise". still guessing something signed.

Listening to the first half with the lyrics for the first time and I love absolutely everything about the title track.
