Sometimes the feature clearly exists just for clout and is barely even audible let alone additive.

Souvenirs’ Float featured Davey Havok - it’s a great song but Davey has like half of one line

good example of a subtle feature is Aaron Gillespie on Healing Pool by The Safest Ledge. Incredible song.

Respect to ETID because where else are you gonna hear the guy from Panic at the Disco and the guy from Deadguy on the same album

Sometimes I wonder if Phoebe Bridgers has cloned herself in order to meet the "feat. Phoebe Bridgers" demand. It's a full-time business!

There’s cool features and dumb ones, but from a marketing perspective in streaming land it’s a smart move, im down

My label just put out a Dandy Warhols album with feature from Frank Black, Slash, and Debbie Harry and its easily their biggest record in a decade.

Nobody listens to the radio for new music like that, press barely moves the needle, web advertising is pretty sus, print advertising is pretty sus…collabos expose you to way more people than other avenues

I actually take RateTheMusic surveys every week as one of the myriad methods I use to hear about new music. Active and alternative only.

This reminds me that Patrick Stump feature on the Weekend Nachos album goes inward

Our alt-rock station here in KC used to be great at playing new bands. Now it’s basically a classic alternative station that plays “Californication” five times a day.

We do have one cool independent station but it can be a little too all over the place or crunchy for my taste. But I still enjoy listening to the radio.

I almost never hear new-to-me music on rock radio anymore unless it's completely terrible. The last thing to completely blindside me with its awfulness was the title track of the most recent blink album

I was referring to rock features, initially, yeah. Hip hop features are the way of the land, no problem there for me.

It's wild to me how much this forum is like... different countries. In the music section everyone is loving new Blink but over here, a million miles away, people are like "Hey, doesn't Blink fucking suck?" It's like tribes co-existing.

For the record I don’t think Blink sucks, I love some Blink, I just think that song really is horrific and could only be taken seriously in a genre as emotionally stunted as pop punk lol

Lots of people in the music forum don’t like blink, you’re probably just not going to see them in the blink-182 official thread
