I hate shit like this. Oh heres multi billion dollar corporations not doing shit to limit polluting the world...they don't need to do shit.

 

I could be wrong, but I don't think the article is trying to make any kind of argument against corporations doing things, but reflecting on the realities of our cold, gray, dim world, and letting you know that you might not want to wait for corporations to get their ass in gear before you start trying to prevent your own untimely death.

Me, since I'm in Florida, I'll just await the cold embrace.

 

Yeah it’s good to let people know they can get filters for pfas but it’s still a good point that the companies that created the problem are not being asked to fix it and petrochemical companies are still being allowed to create harmful chemicals that aren’t being addressed. Until we address the underlying problems this is just bandaid stuff.
The framing of the article is also problematic. To frame it like chemists invented pfas to make life easier and recently we’re learning all this bad stuff is just not true. The companies quickly learned that these chemicals are harmful and lobbied politicians to sweep it under the rug and keep these and many other petrochemicals under regulated.
