As someone very out of touch with this project, may someone explain what all the spoilers and secrecy are about for an album lol

It’s a narrative story. This is the “ending” to the story.

is it the same for you? Prestigious

I am curious to see how Dan finds a way to one-up himself in making the packaging for the next bonus 7” even MORE annoying.

  4. In a delightful turn of events (a phrase that cannot be applied to any Aaron West song), my deluxe is actually getting here today.

Did my first listen during my run this morning. Entire discography play through. What an album!

I am just floored by the detail and effort in this whole project. When he introduced spitting in the wind during the livestream I lost my shit because when I saw them in SF at the beginning of 2023 he mentioned they were heading to LA the following night to play a label showcase. At the time I was sort of confused and amused and had no idea he was building the next record’s story in real time

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I'm dying to hear that alternate ending, can't get enough of this album. this whole project was so special

When I listened to "Paying Bills..." a few times prior to release, I had assumed Sam was a guy, then when I heard "Monogahela Park" I was like "oh! Wait! It's a woman!" And then I've since heard Dan/Holden refer to Sam as "they" on the podcast and now I have no idea!

    Record is incredible.

Melrose Diner came on right after the closer… almost compete opposites

Dan's ability to articulate through song is just phenomenal.

  16. When I realised this when listening to the record I could have fucking sobbed. One of my favourite songwriters throwing non-binary rep into his story-driven side project, I love it so much.

Not seeing how anything else comes out this year that I like more than this.

The Wonder Years are my favorite band and I don't foresee that changing any time soon, but man is this project nearly as dear to me at this point.

"Lyrical soulmate" sounds funny/corny as all hell, but I don't know what I'd use to describe the idea that everything he writes, regardless of project, just *clicks* with me instantly in a way no other writer has ever been able to do.

Completely agree with you. I think it's delivery as well, it's so believable that it's impossible not to resonate.

Easily my AOTY so far. No shocked, but it lived up to all the hype I had built up. I think I actually like most of the songs that weren't released as singles more than the singles (besides the title track).

I love this. I was at that 2000 Trees set and was so confused by the whole record deal comment. Dan is about five steps ahead of us.

Anyway, this record absolutely rules, which isn’t surprising.

Same, but it's wild, haha. It didn't click with me right away and then I was like "oh, what the hell?"

I also managed to do a decent job slicing my vinyl open to get the 7". I think I'm going to pull it out permanently and seal up the seam again because I am obsessive of keeping things nice and the mere act of slicing it in the first place was anxiety inducing.
