That’s really my goal here, improve on Ridley. Ridley was borderline. If we can do better than that then I’d consider that a go-to-guy for Trevor. I don’t expect him to be good in every game but I do expect him and Kirk to be able to take pressure off of each other, so that if teams are really taking Aiyuk away it’s not without devoting extra resources

Aiyuk is legit good and I think he’d cement himself as one of the best receivers in the league if he were in an offense that targeted him and featured him as one. There are reasons he serves as the Niners primary X receiver and it’s because he’s relied upon to beat press/man coverage and get open down the field.

The box scores and the stat sheets won’t tell the most accurate story of how good Aiyuk is because they don’t need to force-feed him the ball in a run-heavy offense that features other high-end players.

At the end of the day, I’d do the trade if I’m the Jags. I just understand why someone would argue otherwise considering their current roster.

 

And, since it’s relevant this offseason, I’d rather have Aiyuk than Tee Higgins

So here’s why I don’t wait until draft day if I’m the Jags. You’re giving the 49ers time to work it out with Aiyuk OR time to figure out no one is gonna let you come up for the big 3 and now they get to squeeze you OR you leave with neither Rome/MHJ/Nabers/Aiyuk.

 

Basically if I was a GM I’d focus more on just getting the good player at the position I need than I would overthinking it to death and missing out because MAYBE there was a better option. Just me though.
