This is fantastic and makes me hope to get more stuff like this in the future from Dan even if it's not under Aaron West.

god this last verse on Paying Bills is so good

 

I loved this a lot

 

Goddamn that last verse is the epitome of this whole project. It's tragic and hopeful in the best way possible. Perfect ending to a beautiful album, and if this is where we end Aaron's story, it's the proper amount of closure.

Last night was incredible. In Lieu of Flowers with the whole crowd singing the chorus was a top 5 live show experience for me.

 

i fucking almost did this last night lol

but let's be honest i had no business doing that yesterday

 

anyway, the only thing here i don't have the urge to immediately start over every time is whiplash which i still really like.

 

Easily the best Aaron West album, with each one getting better. Wouldn't be shocked in another 4-5 years if we got another one, but if not, the story arc seems to get the closure and proper ending it needed.

Going into it I was nervous of it just being like this fairy tale time jump of the main character married with kids lol, and instead, what Dan wrote seemed so logical as the next part of the story. Really well done!

 

Yeah, the way this is ends would be a fine ending for the project, but I honestly hope Dan just keeps checking in with Aaron every once in a while for as long as he's making music, even if it's fewer songs and less often.

On a related note, I misheard a lyric in "Dead Leaves" during the livestream last night that make me think part of the song was from Diane's perspective and that she was going to the show to meet up with Aaron again, which I would not have liked.
