After coming back to the northeast and remembering how many Italians live up here and how good pizza can be up here, I absolutely 1000% am more picky about pizza now and absolutely never order chain takeout pizza or shitty pub pizza anymore

I DEEPLY disagree with this.

Ways to fuck up an enchilada:
1) if it isn’t fluffy and doesn’t feel like love cause you let the exterior get rubbery and chewy. Much like crust on a pizza, it’s not just a vehicle for fillings/toppings, it should be like 50% of why enchiladas are SO GOOD. If you’re not thinking “damn this crust / corn tortilla is so good” then it’s made wrong. 2) if there isn’t plenty of cheese stuffed in AND on top *even if you order a meat enchilada*. I hate when they think meat enchilada means no cheese. Fuck you. 3) if your verde sauce only tastes like tomatillos, that’s just plain wrong and you need way more garlic and spices and about 7 more peppers

Although shitty salsa can still be an addictive snack because of the salt and the crunch, some places have some DEPRESSING ass salsa that basically tastes like Prego spaghetti sauce but with chili powder instead of dried herbs. I am actively displeased with myself that I will still eat 100 chips of that or of Tostitos anyway lol.

And honestly queso should be the easiest thing in the world to not fuck up but occasionally you’ll get a “what the fuck is this” queso that has half and half in it, or some dumb shit that makes it curdle and taste powdery. or you’ll end up at a place that only has queso fundido but doesn’t tell you it’s fundido, and you end up disappointed with actual baked hard cheese instead of a creamy heavenly dipping sauce

Any margarita that is made with sour mix sucks and that’s a LOT of places. fresh lime juice only plz

I do agree with this though. If your town doesn’t have good Mexican food SOMEWHERE then your town fuckin sucks and should get with the program

 

Wow I am passionate about Tex Mex / Mexican food lol

 

Also very partial to places that use this specific kind of cheese for queso, tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas. Tex Mex style yellow cheese queso is still good if it’s made the traditional way and slow-stewed with all kinds of chopped vegetables and peppers etc, that’s a great thing in its own right. And I’ll settle for like, a 4 cheese blend in my quesadilla or on my taco cause that’s more popular in America. But I am not a fan of using yellow cheeses in my enchiladas.

 

He's basically George Lucas. Only the industry has moved on from that kind of model where one nerd can f*ck with a movie for 20 years to the point that the original version isnt even available. Also has to be pretty boner inducing to get fans to force a release of your cut of a movie and it reviews WAY better than the original.

But Sucker Punch is a bad film that cant be fixed.

This right here was one of my favorite restaurants in my childhood in Orange Park FL. They’ve long since closed and now their primary competitor at the time, La Nopalera, is the prominent Mexican food chain in Jacksonville area. But I always thought El Rodeo was better.

I don’t disagree with any of this — I also am typically a member of the clean plate club regardless unless it’s like actually *bad*

when we first moved here, we tried every local Mexican place once (suburban Seattle TexMex is definitely lacking compared to suburban Atlanta), and even then I think there was only one that was actively bad and the rest were varying degrees of passable and one was good

 

Im definitely clean plate club, I hate to waste food & will eat food that isnt even that good lol. But it makes me very opinionated about going to a place again if you run a whole restaurant just to be uninspired about it
