it started here in Boston - you can see a little round chunk missing from the sun now

 

yeah it’s starting here I live next to a huge park with a frisbee golf course and people are laying on blankets in the middle of it with people frolfing lol I’m over here frolfing a lot so I told my mom exactly where we need to sit so we won’t get hit

 

dodging frisbees and burning your retinas!

Fucking clouds moved in in the last 10 minutes. Getting some glimpses but might not get to see peak 89% here booo

 

100% in Dallas, was just clear enough to see it all. Cool solar flare (I think) right as totality was ending

 

Light got weird

 

yeah got cloudy right before it was gonna be the peak here lol

 

Not seeing any difference here in SF, unsurprisingly.

Alright luckily it broke through the clouds right around peak. My son was into it, but also said his neck hurt from looking up so long haha

 

It’s crazy because we’re prob at like 85% coverage now as peak went past, and it’s basically only as dark as it might be on a cloudy day, but the the whole…idk, tone?…of the light is different. Like it’s that episode of house of the dragon where it was clear they shot it on a sunny day but just put a dark filter on the lens..that’s what this light looks like haha

 

Well that was awesome. The total makes a huge difference. It got as dark as if it was just a full moon and it looked so cool

 

I heard it described as when you turn on reduced brightness on your phone, which felt about right. Like could still see everything as clearly as peak sunlight just just darker in tone

 

We were at 98% or 99% here and yeah it was cool but totality has to be totally different. It was not nearly as dark as I expected, it reminded a lot of when the smoke from the fires was super heavy around here.
