Boom bap has been used to describe a variety of things over the years, but usually what people mean by it is like an 90s east coast sound. There’s a lot of that still being made. A lot of people would say Griselda counts too, though some purists might argue that for something to be boom bap it needs hard hitting drums.

yeah but if "Duppy Freestyle" didn't touch that (a diss that truly mattered), there's no way anything he could come up with now would. Although he was sounding noticeably better on those Alchemist-produced bonus tracks.

 

You have a point there, those deluxe edition songs he put out because Joe Budden teased him were solid too

 

I like this, the last Injury Reserve album was just too dense and doom for me, but this has a lot more to grab onto, some really interesting stuff here

Lame. I’m still hyped on the album and it’s probably just an intro/interlude/skit track, but let’s be real those are skips 99.9% of the time

 

The new roc Marciano is great. I'm sure theres other posts about it but I've had this shit on repeat for over a week. Tapeworm is my favorite right now
