The thing I cant understand is why they didnt just put Jay over MJF at Full Gear. Joe took the belt off him shortly after anyway. Adam Cole hasnt wrestled since then, so its not like the delay helped that. Jay White beating MJF (with help from the Devil)...and it being revealed its also a former Bullet Club member who made a temporary deal with Cole to hurt MJF makes more sense than Joe winning the belt the way he did.

And Jay would have been a great heel transitional champ for Swerve to take the belt off him.

 

Probably because they wanted MJF to headline the PPV in his hometown

 

Also because MJF was trying to wrestle through the injury and it may have not been known at that time how long he would be out. That main event would have been so bad if they didn’t overbook everything on the show that was building to it to a such a ridiculous level.

it’s baffling. Like, one of the common knocks on AEW is how hard they protect like, everybody. It’s Danielson needing two finishers to beat Lance Archer. It’s Moxley going like fifteen minutes with Trent. You could come up with examples of them protecting lower card guys to a fault all day long and yet it’s JAY WHITE who is just made to look a fool on a regular basis.
