a former writer pointed out how many they’ve handed out so far this year and how it was more than all of 2013. he said BNM drives clicks so like is the corporate overlord demanding more BNM for clicks? probably. has there been a lot of good music? probably but definitely a good few given BNM I frankly didn’t think deserved it and definitely wouldn’t have on the website a decade ago for better or worse

This is my ranking too. I really do enjoy every album though, so a very difficult one to pick different shades of “great”. FOTB does sound like it is missing something with Rostam gone and the other members not playing on it, but it’s still got some top tier VW

I don’t care if something gets BNM or not. I’ll like what I like but it can highlight something I may not have noticed. It’s also good exposure for artists, maybe not what it used to be, but still. Also, no reason to be stingy with them, there’s plenty of great music coming out every week. It’s wild when there’s like 2 months of no BNM’s on a music website.

    Alas, my VW ranking:

    MVOTC
    FOTB
    Contra
    VW

    so excited for tomorrow.

I like the idea of the band dissecting their own history in conjunction with the idea of history itself. But the structure of this review is bizzare. I thought it was going to end with the paragraph about “Hope” and then goes on for another one.

I just don’t get an impression of what the actual music sounds like, or the reviewer’s opinion on it at all.

Like top 5 at least. Easily the best song on ST imo. I know people love Oxford Comma but it’s gotta be CCKK or I Stand Corrected imo. (Damn, Walcott also sick)

Does “Unbelievers” sound different to anyone else on streaming? I feel like I can’t hear the drums at all. The production feels entirely different to me.

    House of Protect Ron.

Fuck the world, you said it quiet.

    It's out there!!!

First listen and it feels like an instant classic. FOTB really ventured out, this one feels like a nod to everything that came before while also feeling very fresh and new. On first listen Prep school gangsters (Big slow tempo Secret Teardrops vibes) and Hope stood out. Excited to get familiar with it.

I hope you let it go.

Wow. This is so fucking good. “Connect” is amazing, reminds me of something. Can’t put my finger on it.

This record in incredible. Finally enjoy a VW record front to back and then someone posts rape allegations against Ezra in the accountability thread.

I’m so glad FOTB exists, it’s an amazing record and a very cool detour (if that even applies here, still feels like a VW record), but this one right here, wow, this might end up being my favorite, which seems insane. First listen excitement and all so.

“Mary Boone” might still be the one though…that’s gonna be in contention for song of the year for me.

Fully expected this to be their diminishing returns album. Like maybe their I Am Easy to Find. It’s not. Not even close. They sound just as fresh as they did in 2008.
