(The 2nd is a future 2nd too and also not their own which is nice)

That's neither guaranteed nor how that works!

He was already a top paid receiver making the 2nd most guaranteed money now you're motivating him to price you out???

Sure why not, I don't need to pay him again, by then other WRs hit the market and the younger guys take further steps up

I never disputed that haha I don't see a problem with the rental though! Carpe diem

I think sometimes there’s a bit too much emphasis on value and winning deals and resource management and a little less emphasis on fielding 53 guys who can help you win a Super Bowl lol

A 2nd outright for a rental on its own I guess can be justified but they actively chose to make it a rental instead of having him locked up for four years.

That's where that motivation tweet comes in but I'll also add that it's likely a part of the terms of Diggs accepting playing in Houston in the first place, I bet he wants that freedom

Yeah I think the motivation thing is damage control. He's motivated to play better so he gets paid more than his previous contract, which gave him the 2nd most guaranteed money in the league.

Old enough to remember the Jaguars being reamed for the Ridley situation

The Texans also still have their other 2nd next year and Stefon Diggs had played football the season prior to the trade

And also I supported letting Ridley go fwiw, I really really think the Jaguars dodged a bullet

Apparently that move also makes Diggs ineligible for a comp pick

Didn't know that but I wasn't counting the comp pick in this anyway tbh (I know Dave mentioned it)

    It makes sense though

Would they want him locked up for 4 years anyways? He's 30, making a ton of money, and apparently a pain in the ass

I’d trade a late 2nd for a possible 1 year rental for what could be one of his last good years especially while Dell is coming back from a fractured fibula

I don’t know, I support teams getting aggressive when on the cusp lol - fuck it

Tbf also it could be an early 2nd so I get that at least

We do NOT know what Minnesota looks like next year

I still think it's worth it

  24. Donnie Ruth

Ohhhhh is it MIN’s 2nd? Was thinking it was Houston’s

Either way, MIN is always middle of the pack so could be mid 2nd. I’d still do it!

  25. Fucking Dustin

Yeah it's MIN's 2025 2nd, that they got from trading out of the 1st this year
