    The rivalry is back on

That’s my sweet spot - close enough to be able to occasionally do things in the city when you want to, far enough that you can actually afford the space you want/need

Most people that live in sleeper cities prefer they stay that way

Otherwise you turn into present day Austin

It is possible to have suburban life but still be able to *access* a city. But even with this in mind… that’s still pretty much my whole day spent on going to a big event cause event traffic and parking in a city you don’t navigate that often and don’t know that well etc.

When I go to an Orioles game I take a bike or a scooter there and it’s literally just an afternoon or literally just an evening. I can still be productive or do something else or maybe just rest in the other hours of my off day.

There use to be a bar in Lawrence that had the best double fried wings.

But they closed and Lawrence will forever suck.

I like the idea of events being easy to coordinate and unstressful, living in the suburbs makes every little event you want to attend feel like a Whole Thing and then it all sounds less appealing lol

Can I interest you in Eastern Georgia? which somehow does not have people but still have constant traffic?

As someone who likes going to open mics, and outdoor projector movies, and open art galleries, and street food / food truck markets, and free Tuesdays at the museum or half off Friday evening at the aquarium, and festivals where they set up live bands, and all kinds of casual city shit like that, it’s a lot easier to justify without a long commute to and from. All the stuff I listed above is family friendly too and not just late night bachelor party stuff (some open mics are 21+ and late night but some aren’t)

i'm never more than 90 minutes from NYC by train, a lot of times less. i can very easily leave work at 5/530 and jump on a train and make a game or concert in the city that starts at 8pm or later. i understand this is not the same for many major cities but, the LIRR makes it pretty easy to go in and out.

If I want to go to a Thunder game or a concert downtown it’s a 15 minute drive, maybe pay $10 for parking then a less than 10 minute walk to the arena

if I want to go to Tulsa it’s like an hour 30 minute drive

not a big deal for me!

Yeah, Atlanta is getting expensive af and people also discovered that north Georgia is really pretty so it's just a total mess now.
