I mean yeah you lived in LA for a summer but it wasn’t very long nor was it a part of the city you were even that excited about haha

if only remote work was actually an easily accessible and replicable thing

id have a strong preference for living in a small city but finding a job would be v hard and being able to leave that job or replace that job in the event of a layoff would be even harder

Idk I just really love big ass cities with elite food and elite nightlife and great attractions and strong local music scenes and where trying something new just means walking 5 minutes further in any direction or taking a bus/train to that neighborhood you only go to occasionally

As long as the city is affordable for me, has really nice parks when I need nature, and has weather I can handle, I’m sold. Loved DC, loved Baltimore, loved Atlanta, would love Philly or NOLA. Chicago/Boston/Minneapolis too cold, NY/SF/Boston/Denver/Seattle/Portland etc too expensive, Charlotte/Jacksonville/Richmond too small and bland. That’s about where my criteria is.

Cities at or below 2 mill metro population are very unlikely to have everything I like. A few of them do but that’s cities like NOLA and Nashville that have a bigger reputation than their peers. (And Nashville isn’t walkable, has bad transit, expensive ass parking / no street parking, and their food is overrated so that’s honestly still a no.) Generally I prefer living in or near cities Baltimore size or bigger. Even the smaller cities I’d live in… aside from Asheville, all the other ones are appealing to me partially because they are close enough to bigger cities to also go there lol, like I’d live in Annapolis MD cause it’s super cute, has tons of waterfront and great seafood, but you’re still easily able to go to Baltimore / DC on a day off.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

we need more sleeper cities like Lawrence, Kansas. Why don't I ever hear anyone talk about that city???

I feel so old thinking about this because like...low traffic, some good restaurants, ideally a target nearby?

Beads and I are thinking of moving and the real big decision points are proximity to friends and family and then size and space for the family and work. I thought I'd never want to live more than like 30 mins from Boston but I've lived an hour from it for the last year and haven't actually gone into the city more than like once or twice.

I’m biking distance from Target and as long as you avoid Boston street in Canton and avoid the roads closest to the harbor in Fells Point, traffic is like nothing here compared to other major cities

I think my point is that I really have no desire to live near or in a city at this point lol

I hate traffic and people, so no big city for me. Des Moines is perfect.

Downtown gets backed up but even still if you’re a strategic driver and don’t stay in the slow lane that catches the red light 3 times it’s not that bad. When I had a car I could go from my apartment in the east harbor, all the way through Fells and downtown and onto the 395/295 ramps across the harbor in under 15 minutes in normal conditions, and would still make it outta the city in under 25 minutes during traffic unless I left right before or right after a home Orioles game. (Which are times I would obviously just avoid cause I don’t actively want to punish myself lol)

This is kinda what I'm shooting for now. The places we're looking are like 45-60 mins from Boston so like...we could go to a Sox game if they decided to be a major league team again.

awesome I’m jazzed about officially having every starter back from last year

now we just need a good draft to add a good flow of talent on defense so that this isn’t just running back the 28th best defense on points against
