A weird fun fact about my personal experience with France: the best meal I had when I was there was a steak and french fries lmao

that actually does remind me. French > Italy in terms of hating the brits too

 

It was a good ass steak and fries too, not knocking it. But for a place that so pretentiously asserts itself as like a food and art capital of the world, they sure as hell love American food and culture over there. I ate mcDonalds and watched Live Free or Die Hard and listened to Bullet For My Valentine with my homestay family’s kids lol.

I mean, maybe they were just trying to bring us places we were comfortable, but talking to them and the things they were excited to talk to us about, it really seemed like they wanted a first hand account of these foreign bands and movies and food chains that they enjoyed haha

 

So weird to say “French fries” but the originals are actually Belgian and those are actually not very similar to American style crispy shoestring fries and the latter is what I was served with a very Oklahoma looking steak in France*

 

yeah but what's more on brand than Americans naming something due to cultural ignorance
