Second time I had Julien on my release radar and then it's not actually her (or at least that's what I gathered before turning this off ;d)

Yeah, it is odd ;d but to be real, it was quite an easy listen within that depertment after hearing whaaat I'm about to post (sorry, friends)

I don't wanna hate on it for sure, but this feels weird as hell. And well, I need to think about it a bit more, cause I liked the line about "listening to Dirty Projectors in a Volvo by the freeway funeral pyre" by Caracara last year hahh - so what's the difference exactly. I know there's something that feels too on-the-nose with these ones to me for sure

EDIT: well for one it def feels like a bad gimmick, whereas it might be different for bigger artists to name songs like "Leonard Cohen" after so many years of what his whole body of work represents etc., but it's quite cheap for a smaller artist to name a song refering to a newly-charting-artist, as if they wanted to come up in google searches now or whatever

Julien sings on this one, Iggy Pop is in the video hahh, but I think the former makes it much more worth checking out, love that outro.

So, y’all heard of Elliot Green in here? Was quite an interesting experience stumbling into her music.

 

It’s uncanny

 

Referee came on shuffle when I was driving with my sister a little while ago and she didn't realize it wasn't Turn Out The Lights until it was almost over

 

It’s super uncanny, the whole album sounds just like Turn Out The Lights-era Julien, even the lyrics/themes discussed. They both really like MewithoutYou too! Also Elliott’s profile picture on Spotify



reminds me a lot of Julien’s Audiotree picture



I wonder if Elliott has ever talked about being influenced by Julien before. It would be interesting to read about if so!
