Player's Log: Trails Into Reverie.

Finished the main storyline for realsies, and now I'm in the Reverie Corridor ready to do post-game epilogue-type stuff.

It's wild to think that there are 50 playable characters in this game, when all is said and done, but of course that's just because the cast has been built up over the course of ten games.

If I had to critique something, it's that this game mentions some characters being present in particular battles, but doesn't actually show them, which annoys me. Don't tell me Kevin is helping out in his Merkabah and don't actually show him doing anything, you massive assholes.

Anyway, I may finish the rest of this game tomorrow. Hard to tell. But when I do finish, the next game and final Trails game I'll play is The Legend Of Nayuta: Boundless Trails.

Boundless Trails is... an odd duckling, to say the least. It's an action-RPG, for one, that I've been told takes after the Zwei games more than the Ys games, but it's also questionable how much this game fits into the Trails storyline.

All I know is that the game shares some common concepts/vocabulary, but other than that, has no real pertinent connections to the series. Yet, anyway.

However, knowing now that it's impossible to escape the continent of Zemuria to see anything beyond ticks a box inside my brain that makes me wonder...

I just played Unreal Tournament for the first time since like 2000. Not only are there still active servers, but I just kicked SO much ass.

 

When I played UT online I just got sniped every three seconds

 

The quest for Poseidon is absolutely breathtaking. Couldn't help but just stop and marvel at all the sights

 

HFW: Did Ashly Burch just have a whole ass conversation with herself? and maintained two distinct character voices through it all. That shit was nuts. This fucking game.

Player's Log: Trails Into Reverie

I'm very close to finishing this game. I've obtained all the Steam achievements, and as far as content goes I've got two more Reverie Corridor floors and I think three more Daydreams to finish and then I think I'll be done.

There are some in-game achievements that involve reaching the level cap that I could do and there's neat little scenes you can unlock if you complete certain mini-missions with particular characters, but I don't really feel the need to go that deep with it, and I'm eager to start Boundless Trails.

So tomorrow morning I'll finish this game, and the rest of the day belongs to Boundless.

 

Same on both. I'm not as invested in it as Genshin either, as much as I love scifi which is weird. Maybe it's the fact I've been playing genshin since day 1 so I'm obviously deep into that game's lore and world or it's the fact that as much as I dig Star Rail, it's got WAY more reading to get the full lore picture than Genshin. I mean I get the overall story, and it's been full of highs so far except the Xianzhou Luofu (2nd world Zzzzzz) story but there's so much lore buried in optional story modes and I don't have time to read essays lol especially on mobile. But the quality in both is where Mihoyo shines and there's really nothing else on their level. Star Rail's turn based battle gameplay is just perfect.

 

Anyone play Shadowverse: Evolve?
People at my local card shop play it a lot, so I picked it up. I didn’t know it started as a mobile game until recently. I’m hooked now and the story mode is surprisingly good. It’s very similar to Hearthstone, but anime characters haha.

 

I used to play years ago when it launched since it was by the creators of Granblue Fantasy and featured characters from that game. It's a fun game and you're right, the story is interesting. I just tend to move on from card games pretty quickly lol. There's also an anime but I have no idea of its relevancy to the game.

 

I just looked up the anime. It has totally different characters and plot. It looks like Yu-gi-oh, where they play the game in the show.

 

Ah, yeah I'd imagine that doesn't have much lore relevancy when it comes to the actual Shadowverse stuff then. I haven't actually seen it, I just knew there was one with the word Shadowverse in the title lol.
