Love The Sacrament. All of the Joe Swanberg/Adam Wingard/Amy Seimetz films, mumblecore or whatever? All great. The Innkeepers might be my least favorite but I thought it was still solid with its scares.

 

By Them do you mean the French language film (Ils)? that was a pretty good home invasion movie

 

I liked the Sacrament quite a bit, House of the Devil less so. haven't seen Innkeepers

 

I believe that is the one, yes.

 

That one is great too

 

House of the Devil is a bit of a slow burn but it's worth it.

 

Yeah I get it, I just didn't love it.

Guys I'm running out of October to watch movies. I think I'm going to spend tomorrow with all of the "____of the Dead" Romero films (remakes too), because I'm gonna need a full day for that. Actual Halloween is going to be Halloween/Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th (haven't decided an order).

 

I'm biased towards House of the Devil and Innkeepers as they were both shot in Connecticut (movies are rarely shot here). When I first saw House, the college campus looked familiar and then I realized it was shot where I went to grad school.

I'm finishing NOTLD tonight (got sleepy last night, I'm old) and Day is on the list for this weekend. never seen Dawn since its out of print for whatever reason

 

if anyone is looking for something to watch these last few days of the month...

 

Super bummed, a theater is showing a double feature of Blood Diner and Spookies tonight, but finances are too tight for me to make the trip to Miami.

 

It's about 50/50 on that list.

If you don't care where you stream things, you can probably find one online.

 

A bunch of must watch movies there. Definitely watch House though

I don't have a computer and prefer not to watch movies on tablet. I stream everything on PS3

 

Honestly I'm surprised to see Maniac on both those lists. I thought the score was amazing, and EW did a great job. Though it has some absolutely brutal/over the top death scenes. It's one of the few movies I've seen where it made me really uncomfortable.

 

I had forgotten the ending of NOTLD. Kinda fucked up.

 

I'm so ready to see your reaction to House. Keep us updated.

 

Haha, the movie definitely falters a bit when you put some thought to it, but I still enjoyed it and thought it was technically impressive. Couldn't agree more about the twist though. Had trouble getting back into it afterward; really kind of pissed me off because the setting/motive/harness/chains was suggestive enough so to then double down on it and in such a disgusting manner was gratuitous

 

Time for some cider and my annual House of the Devil viewing!

 

i really enjoyed Pontypool up until the end. too off the rails/saccharine? especially that stinger lmao. but that first 3/4 was really tight and inventive.
