I watched this earlier and it was why I decided to go see it tonight.

I thought it was fine. Definitely needed at least 5 less characters.

Thought it was fine as well. Not enough focus on the kids. They felt like side characters half the time, even with the amount of screen time McKenna got

    Die rad.

Made 45 million as projected but I don't see this making ad much as Afterlife by box office end. Maybe 100 million USA if they are lucky. Not enough legs. Or replay value. This may be it for this current cast and franchise.

It’s also gonna get trounced by Godzilla x Kong. No idea why they didn’t space these blockbusters out more.

One is Sony, one is Warner Bros., and they're in competition with each other.

Obviously. I’m saying in order to avoid smashing right up against each other, probably would have helped to space Ghostbusters away from Godzilla.

It would have made more sense to release this in the summer since it takes place during the summer

There's always going to be tentpoles battling each other because there's only so much space in a year to release films.

Only way I see a studio clearing a path is if it's directly up against a surefire moneymaker, like Dune.

Otherwise, I'm sure they just both think they have the better offering. Or they think it ultimately won't matter. Either way.

All I’m saying is there wasn’t much going on in February. But I do understand they have to plan these things around who’s occupying the premium screens.

  13. Man. This was really bad. The second act had some potential, still gathering my thoughts, but that third act really sucked.

I've heard some horrible things about this movie, but I still want to see it. Might have to do the $5 matinee at some point.

Yea I liked afterlife way more than this. It had more focus and heart. This is just a mess. Way too many characters.

I think Afterlife and Frozen Empire had completely different vibes. Hard to compare them honestly. Frozen Empire was more fun, but After Life connected better emotionally.

  20. It's worse than Afterlife. It had the potential to be better -- the story is a little more original -- but aside from Phoebe's arc (which is good), Akroyd and Hudson's enthusiasm, and the addition of Kumail (at least for the first hour), this thing stinks. None of the characters have anything to do, specifically Finn Wolfhard and his girlfriend. Bill Murray is there to cash a paycheck again. Giving Janine the suit is whatever, but feels like when they gave Chewbacca the medal in The Rise of Skywalker. The third act is literally 10 ghostbusters, four of which are senior citizens, shooting Marvel energy beams at a villain from a video game cut scene. The stakes never feel real and they do the absolute bare minimum with the move back to NY. It's a mess

  21. I liked Answer the Call in 2016 and I've definitely cooled on it a bit since then, but this movie in particular really made me want to revisit it because there's no way it's worse.

Aykroyd and Hudson having actual roles instead of just being pure nostalgia, along with Kumail, to me, make it better than "Afterlife." Both are movies I'll never think about again, but I at least had fun with this trying to do something else, instead of getting pulverized by references. There's no reason for half of these characters to be there, especially Wolfhard.

If the franchise is going to continue, it needs a shot in the arm like Seth Rogen gave TMNT. Do something fresh and fun. It can't rely on more references to carry a third film.

  23. literally just give us one original story and commit to it

when Finn Wolfhard literally points at Slimer and says "I know that guy!," I couldn't stop myself from saying "this sucks" out loud and laughing with my buddy
