It got real nice in Philly this week and Darkness on the Edge of Town is reallllllly hitting tonight. I've never really considered how much of a summer album it is. Is there a better song than "The Promised Land"?

I’ve always considered it a late night, late summer album.

Darkness feels like a summer album, but all the horrible stuff of summer. The sweat and intense heat.

I got into Darkness in the winter, so I always associate it with the colder months, but there are definitely some summer jams on there.

I know there’s a ton of mythos surrounding the creation of Nebraska, but I always felt the “Deliver Me From Nowhere” chapter from Bruce’s autobiography would be ripe for a film adaptation.

Good time to recommend this book to those who haven't read it.

I think I blew through this in a day when it came out, haha. I should read it again.

Excited for Steven Hyden’s BITUSA book in a couple months, too.

I keep forgetting about Hyden's book. Need to preorder that.

Zanes' Petty biography is incredible too.

Had no idea about that book, instantly ordered.

Jeremy Allen White is as good of a Bruce candidate as I can think of, especially since the movie’s focusing on a darker quieter side of both Bruce and his music.

Scott Cooper I’m more iffy on, as he’s had more misses than hits for me — but Out of the Furnace is a strong entry in the “miserable violent working class story that feels like a sad Springsteen song” genre.

In general I’m way more excited for this type of focused biographical story than like a big Bruce biopic called Born to Run or something

Just finished the full Springsteen album run. Listened along with R U Springing pod. Was interested to hear Scott and Scott both rank Magic right near the top. But it's certainly a great record, think I like The Rising just a little more as it has higher peaks.

i agree but also agree with their take that rising is far more spotty than magic

I had never given Letter To You a shot and was very happily surprised. If I Was A Priest has a fantastic melody, and the last 4 songs are all particularly fantastic.

    Holy forkin' shirtballs

I was at the show in Albany last night and it was even better than my expectations. Bruce’s vocals sounded incredible, the band was firing on all cylinders, and you could tell everyone was having a great time. The setlist blew my mind…was very “Darkness” heavy. I won’t post the whole thing in case anyone else is going to any of the upcoming dates, but here it is if anyone wants to check it out.

Bruce Springsteen Setlist at MVP Arena, Albany

Our date was postponed twice, and I can definitely say it was worth every moment of waiting. I definitely got pretty emotional during “Atlantic City”… my favorite Bruce song and I did not expect them to play that.
