I watched the Milli Vanilli doc on Paramount+ last night. Similar story to the Nick docuseries in the sense that it centers older adults taking advantage of younger, financially-strapped people for money.

But man, it’s done in such a better way. Well-researched, has a variety of sources that it presses to get answers, tons of archive footage. And it’s all done in less than two hours. It’s too bad it’s on P+ and no one talked about it because it’s pretty remarkable.

I was actually wondering, as I watched it, if the popularity of the series would have any related people reconsider and want to share their stories. I could see how a 5th episode would make sense if more stories could be added to the narrative

I shot something with Sacha years ago that had him in character as Borat. Like ten minutes after he showed up in costume, after he kept fucking up the takes and getting frustrated, he said some weird meanish shit to me and said I’d have to leave the room before they could continue. So I left and sat on some stairs and laughed really hard about getting kicked off a set by literally Borat.

Someone else had to op that camera and afterwards everyone was really confused about what I had done to provoke that. Since the answer to that was straight up nothing, it was pretty clear to me he just loves a weird power trip, which was confirmed a few weeks later when I worked with him again and he didn’t remember me and then spent the entire day demeaning a random second AC out of character. Great guy

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s laid into people that have threatened the mystique around his characters. A person involved with “Bruno” gave an interview to a local newspaper about making the movie. Was a huge article and within a day of running, completely disappeared from the Internet.

I also think he or the studio made the director of “Borat 2” completely re-record an episode of “Doughboys” to the point where he couldn’t even mention the movie.

He seems like an absolute control freak and nightmare to deal with. Awful what Rebel Wilson had to deal with.

Rebel Wilson Alleges Sacha Baron Cohen Humiliated Her on Set in Graphic Account He Says Is 'Demonstrably False' (Exclusive)

“It felt like every time I’d speak to SBC, he’d mention that he wanted me to go naked in a future scene. I was like, ‘Ha, I don’t do nudity, Sacha.’”

One day, while filming at a soccer stadium in Cape Town, she writes, “SBC summons me via a production assistant saying that I’m needed to film an additional scene. ‘Okay, well, we’re gonna film this extra scene,’ SBC says. Then he pulls his pants down ... SBC says very matter-of-factly: ‘Okay, now I want you to stick your finger up my ass.’ And I’m like, ‘What?? ... No!!’ ...”

Wilson continues in her book, “I was now scared. I wanted to get out of there, so I finally compromised: I slapped him on the ass and improvised a few lines as the character.”

Wilson writes that she called her agent and spoke to a lawyer. “I was encouraged to ‘be professional and finish the film,’ ” she writes. After that, “my way of dealing with it at that point was to try to laugh it off.”

Then, Wilson writes, she was asked to do reshoots, including a sex scene. “I filmed the scene, after demanding rewrites. But I still had to simulate having sex with this guy. I still had to kiss him repeatedly.” A few months later, she continues, “It really sank in that all this wasn’t something that could be laughed off. I relayed to the producers that I would not be doing any promotion for the film.”

In the end, Wilson writes, "The movie bombed, which to me was karma enough. I’m not about canceling anybody and that’s not my motivation for sharing this story. I’m sharing my story now because the more women talk about things like this, hopefully the less it happens.”

Sacha Baron Cohen also supports Israel’s apartheid and genocide. He’s a piece of shit to work with clearly and he’s also ok with justifying the murder of tens of thousands of children and I think we have trouble putting that into perspective

I only saw the trailer for it, but for decades I remember all the blame being put on them. It's nice to know the way it's being viewed in retrospect has changed where they are now seen as victims in this.

It’s super weird to me that they included his dad being like “I knew it whole time but everyone ostracized me for being homophobic.”
It’s a weird pat on the back for literally doing nothing and tries to sell it as “wokeness stopped me”

This is such a dreadful situation for all parties involved. I wish Bell would run the fuck away from the spotlight so he can heal on his own and for the sake of HIS victim and their need to heal. Bell's defense in that case is dog shit in my opinion and the doc granted him a lot of grace that I don't think is deserved.

"As I write in my book, SBC is an a**hole. It is an a**hole move to release footage of one part of that disgusting episode while leaving out everything that preceded it including my horrified refusal to stick my finger up SBC’s butt."

"This could not have possibly been for the film as the director Louis Leterrier was not even present. What this edited video shows is what I had to do in order to get out of the room, as written in 'Rebel Rising.' Releasing unauthorized and misleading behind the scenes video without my approval is SBC’s latest way of bullying and gaslighting me. The outpouring of messages from so many who have also been mistreated by SBC show I’m not alone."

Yea, I noticed Marc was only in the beginning and never came up again. He probably thought it was a positive doc on the history of Nickelodeon (which already exists called “The Orange Years”). Like it says in the article, he left the network before Dan became a big name so he probably didn’t witness any abuse. The filmmakers most likely kept him in (I believe he’s also in the trailer) to bait millenials such as myself by bringing in a familiar face.
