Yeah the only reason this tour is doing well is nostalgia and they also got surprisingly strong support in AJJ. I’d be surprised if they could draw this well without it being some sort of album tour.

 

Most fans aren't checking Chorus/Reddit every day. They get a notification Say Anything is coming and they're like "oh cool." The casual fan doesn't know. Some of my friends who are fans of the genre only know cause I tell them.

 

I think the person I'm most embarrassed for is Brad Wood

Made an account after quite a while of lurking just to comment about how bad this song is/album is shaping up to be. I stopped following the band after Hebrews, but this is sad enough that I'm seriously about to throw out all the Say Anything stuff I own.

 

Well if nothing else this steaming pile of dogshit is growing chorus.fm.

In all seriousness it genuinely feels gross listening to it and them using their actual names knowing their history, really sad

 

Had to listen to the vibrator song based on the comments in here and had to switch from listening through my phone speakers to my headphones to avoid the embarrassment I was feeling.

I live alone and was listening while alone but was afraid my neighbors might hear me and didn’t want them thinking I was enjoying listening to that shit.

 

Say Anything is one of those very rare bands that I could never completely abandon. “Is a Real Boy” will always be a key album for me. And when I saw them live it was a top 3 all time concert experience.

 

Say Anything was my favorite band ever. I have never idolized a celebrity/music artist but Max was up there. Listening to Is A Real Boy, relating hard, and discovering Max helped me identify my own bipolar disorder and his success motivated and inspired me for many years. Saying that, they're a car crash I can't look away from but I can't listen to my old favorite songs anymore it gives me a feeling of revulsion. I kept hoping Max would "get better" but it's a depth between lack of awareness, accountability and overall just ability to understand right from wrong. I hate this band, I wish well for Max but it's far past any belief that there's a redemption story anymore. Just watching the car crash and I am so invested for so many years that I can't look away. I'm embarrassed for still caring, but this band use to be seriously important to me and there was a LONG leash that has been destroyed.

 

Max is just gross now. Watching him be enabled and coddled into producing... this... is just disturbing. Max the dancing monkey, creating an album about how the world is out to get him because punk. Calling this a car crash is putting it kindly.

I really was not expecting it to be that bad but wow
