    hate my favorite band

Can’t really bring myself to give a shit about this band after the last couple years for various reasons, including thinking the last album sucked. Everything besides the last one and the self titled are incredibly important to me though, so I’ll check it out eventually.

But Gravity keeps making me think of the Hit The Lights’ song, so now I’m listening to Invicta

Seems like the last album really slowed their momentum? I only got into the band with Mother Nature and I'm sure they had 300-350k monthly listens on Spotify. Down to 200k at present.

I’m curious to see if “we have another album in the can” was literal, or if he’s been revisiting these songs over the past couple years.

if it’s really just been sitting completed, then I have low expectations for anything written in the same timeframe as Coming Home, but if he’s been revisiting these songs and editing them and taking his time, I’m more hopeful.

the funniest thing is that coming home isnt even that bad but man has he done nothing to inspire confidence in this band's future

Coming Home after Mother Nature was a huge let down. I still tear up hearing the Prologue into Blind Ambition

Coming Home is mostly fine, but it’s just so blah after what Mother Nature was. Those songs really feel like they were written quickly and recorded quickly, and there’s nothing about any of them that particularly makes me want to go back to that album.

Northern Lights came on on my run this morning and wild that he calls out the Key Bridge. So sad.

Coming Home is the only album of theirs I basically never listen to. But based on RFTS, War Paint, and Mother Nature, I’ll basically always check out whatever they put out.

it's weird to have to think "please no road head on this one" ahead of an album release, but here we are

AJ’s crass lyrics are nothing compared to whatever the hell Bemis just put out

Are we supposed to listen to the new album while playing Starfield? Starfield-Review-Featured-Games.jpg

it's actually meant to be like a Dark Side of the Moon - Wizard of Oz situation, except it's for the Sandra Bullock movie from 2013.

I really like coming home. Not as good as MN for sure, but it’s great imo. Dimensional Love is a banger. Really enjoy Goodbye as well.

Under normal circumstances a band should be able to bounce back from an album like coming home. These are not normal circumstances

Yeah, and that's the bigger thing, I suppose: I have no confidence in their ability to make something special again.

Coming Home and ATLOTBS weren't bad, it's just that most of the songs felt like ideas that weren't fully fleshed out.

I think AJ saw the success that 'Way Down' had and has been trying to replicate that magic. So many songs since then that have been 2 chords, simple chorus, no bridge, slower tempo.

Did way down have success? Lol

For TDS's standards, yes lol. I remember the band being very excited on social media when the song actually charted on some rock chart. Its also their 4th more streamed song on Spotify (behind Permanent Rain, WIWTB and Fuck Them All).

But another element tho, is unlike way down, this album has the least "Screaming style vocals" of them all. Not screaming per se, but that straining loud borderline screaming the notes . Like the end of Way Down. Coming home didn't really have any of that. Way cleaner vocals

I too am curious what is so abnormal about these circumstances lol Bands like Motley Crue, Ozzy, countless bands have bounced back from ODs and the craziest mayhem, if anything Dangerous Summer to me are a pretty low key band relatively speaking. I know those bands are different genres, but the general public that knows any of TDS's music, outside of this forum don't even know of any road bumps TDS have even have had I'd imagine

*gestures at everything* if the way aj carries himself and this band hasn’t shaken your confidence more power to you but he’s the definition of washed

Why were they bad interactions? He's always been super friendly when I met him, but I was meeting him as a "fan"

The functioning alcoholism isn’t a good look and will end badly. Especially with the chaotic tour last year.
