If we end up doing the Beatles I'll probably skip again this month. It's not that I don't like them or recognize how important they are. It's that it's a Beatles cover comp and no matter what we will be covering well tread ground. But I guess I always prefer doing bands that I associate more strongly with AP/chorus.

I think the vast majority of Beatles songs aren't typically covered by many people, which is fortunate. I think a lot of people here will probably dig into obscure Beatles songs.

 

@715creeks this is the compilation thread. members of the forums submit themed covers every couple months or so. read the OP, itll explain. there is a current pole right now for what band we want the next compilation to be, its a few pages back. vote Hotelier haha.

If the Hotelier wins, I won't have any clue what to do, haha. I know them even less than I know Modest Mouse, which is saying something. But I pulled of a Modest Mouse song on that compilation, so I'm sure I can figure something out.

As much as I truly do love the Beatles, there are enough covers of their material out there xD I want to cover "Discomfort Revisited".

i'd be curious to see how many people actually participated if it were the hotelier. seems like a challenging band to cover for a compilation like this. really surprised ben gibbard and taking back sunday are so far behind.

 

I've never given The Beatles the attention that I'm sure their catalogue deserves, so I'd love to hear a compilation and get immersed in that world. I have a few songs in mind that I might give a try, but they're certainly not deep cuts so I wouldn't be surprised if they get snatched on up. That's probably a good thing though. I've always been impressed with your willingness to explore an unfamiliar band's work @bradsonemanband. I ought to do the same

 

Thanks! I have a personal goal to never miss a compilation, so if a band I don't necessarily know wins, I just have to bite the bullet and make it work, haha. It's actually a lot of fun covering songs I don't know really well already.

 

I mean, I can tell you right now, a cover compilation is not a recommended entry point for the Beatles, haha

If anyone were to ask me why I don't know a lot of Beatles' (or whatever other classic band's) songs, I'd say that my parents immigrated here in the late 70's as adults with one hell of a language barrier, so I didn't have the same exposure to music as other people might have had. That's probably not as good of an excuse anymore now that I'm 25, though.

 

There's an interview from a while back that alludes to that he is ftm transgender, but I had no idea he didn't identify as male.

 

He has said he is okay with either pronoun in a Reddit AMA
