Anyone have any recommendations for someone who likes Polo G, Scorey, Derez Deshon, NF, some Drake. Stuff that has some kick, a tinge of pop and melody but not mumble. Uplifting or at least motivating. Not a rap person at all but I need some new gym songs and sometimes my emo-rock doesn't hit for me in that situation.

 

My top of mind suggestion is Lupe Fiasco or Big Sean based on what you listed

 

maybe Saba too. Chicago rappers have melodic bangers in a chokehold

Am I the only one that entirely missed the return of Hodgy Beats? Apparently he just goes by Jerry now, lol. Guess he’s taking after his more successful Odd Future pals. There’s definitely a hip hop twist to this, but not a ton of actual rapping. Mostly acoustic guitar and singing, very melodic

I was listening to Oldie the other day and thinking his verse was actually pretty good it just gets overshadowed by like 10 better ones on that song
