With Sublime seeming to be focusing on festivals but not doing Lolla, I feel like there is a decent shot they will play Riot.

I’m fully expecting them to be at Riot

Scarlet Demore is playing Lolla so they're out but they would have been a fun get. Could have opened a stage as a local similar to Pet Symmetry a couple years ago

They've had lower tier local bands play both in the past, so it's not out of the realm of possibility (Radkey is the only one off the top of my head)

  8. Riot Fest followed my band on Youtube last year. Still patiently waiting for that invite to be the local opener on Rebel at 12:00 PM.

So I've updated my spreadsheet a lot, this is the last time I post it, anyone can edit if anonymously, honestly spent too much time on this - no way I'm doing this again next year

    RIOT

Still waiting for your band to play since I saw you all opening the Spitalfield show at Gman Tavern in 2018

If Orville Peck plays this year I hope we also get some other cool country acts. Sturgill Simpson, Willie Nelson, Amigo the Devil, and/or Jason Isbell would all be fun. Not country, but I would also love to have the Mountain Goats and The Hold Steady at RF.

Jason Isbell is playing Ravinia. But I agree, would be nice to get a bit more country, especially with more rebellious roots.

Some alt country would be great if they brought back that second small stage..

Doesn't have to all be alt country - throw in something like a Laura Jane acoustic set

Depending on the size of the stage it also opens up getting acts like Wednesday and Waxahatchee - this is one area that Riot Fest really could expand into and it would fit.

Sister Wife Sex Strike would be a great opener for that stage. Maybe have Bright Eyes close it

dang, just noticed (well someone on another thread noticed for me) that Justice didnt make the Lolla line up. their 4 other shows are all in the late july/early aug so i dont know if theyd be in the states come sept, but they would be incredible to get.

The Pulp shows happening this fall are apparently selling really well. My new theory: Riot pulls a The Cure with Pulp this year and if/when their Chicago show sells out, Riot is their official “second show” in Chicago

Seems possible that Coachella has them as a US festival exclusive.

Well, now that The Killers are out I’m putting forth all my annoying effort to get Depeche Mode as a headliner.

The Interrupters posted a tour poster on IG tonight. 9/21 is listed with an asterisk that means “Sum 41 festival date” so I think it’s fair to assume they’re out.

Furnace Fest first wave announcement came out today. Not sure of any crossover, but something to note

I see some definite potential crossover. But nothing major. It's also really interesting seeing the discourse about this festival and how "weak" the line-up is after seeing this. This looks pretty good to me? Arguably more of a "back to the roots" sorta vibe? Turnstile and "crossover" bands can't save the day and bump things up every year.

Which has got me wondering about Riot Fest and the headliners. They've had two really huge headliners the last two years in My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters. And for me, that's sort of dangerous ground to tread because what gave them so much flexibility in the past (from my perspective) was that they didn't need to dip into that top tier of like, 6-10 rock acts who are stadium bands. Keeping it just below that line opens up the pool quite a bit more.

Do we think they'll stick to that? Or bring it back down half-a-notch?
