Player's Log: Trails Into Reverie.

Finished Lloyd and C's routes for Act IV and started on Rean's, but I detoured into the True Reverie Corridor once the third stratum unlocked. I'm stopping there and tomorrow I'll work on more side diversion shit, because that is equally my jam. The main plot is great, but I actually wouldn't mind an entire game of just these characters having random conversations and getting into zany situations.

 

Been seeing a lot of previews for Ronin and they keep saying it's a step down from previous Team Ninjas games like they made combat more accessible and forgiving than previous games and people are disappointed. Less Nioh and more like FarCry 4.

Hot take, but music to my ears.

 

soulsbornes are fine and all, i haven't exactly played any unless you count like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, but liek, people are equating a game's difficulty with its quality, and equating their own ability to beat the hardest games with their legitimacy as players. i play chill ass games like Unpacking and Calico and my dick is still bigger than theirs

seeing ratchet and clank have like 6 different difficulty measurements and one where you could never die made me happy.

 

Been playing lords of the fallen and enjoying myself a lot. It's like a mid point between Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 minus the incredible art direction those games have. I mean this as a compliment.

 

Lotf is incredible. I am so happy to see people coming around to it.

Alright so I’ve come to realize after my obsession with Returnal and God of War Valhalla that I’m just a roguelike guy. What’s everyone’s favorite roguelike recommendations? I’ve seen hades talked about a lot in here, must buy?

 

Do you mean Roguelite or Roguelike? Because there's so much confusion and overlap it doesn't really matter I just want to make sure I'm recommending you games you actually like.

Is it the challenge, randomness, and unlocking new abilities that carry over between runs that makes you like them?

Hades is a must buy so is dead cells. Balatro is everyone’s current favorite. Slay the spire is the biggest deck building rogue lite. It rules. I own enter the gungeon but haven’t played it yet

 

Dead Cells kicked so much ass, I never quite clicked with Hades and I wish I did

picked up Omega ruby today for the first time in months. something about a 3DS era Pokémon game really gets the nostalgia juices flowing. might emulate soul silver next, sucks my physical copy of heart gold is long gone because I’ll never be able to afford it (and if I ever splurge on a physical Pokémon game it’s gonna be fire red which my copy of also didn’t make it to adulthood). I do own original blue and silver but the remakes are so much better.

 

DD2 on Friday yayyy. Been watching some early leaks and it really does look fun, like a true sequel to the first game and I couldn't be any happier.

 

also Black Book while not a rogue is still a very good deckbuilder and I won't stop talking about it

 

I can’t wait for dd2 but I won’t let myself buy it until I finish two more games lol

 

I firmly believe I won't be done with Rebirth (exploring Cosmo Canyon map now) by then but I can afford one afternoon to "try" it out.

It's been years I've been waiting for this!

 

Been back on a Dead Cells kick since getting my Nitro Deck for the Switch. So damn good
