Good movie. So much packed into it. I think watching that two back to back will make each even better.

 

As a creative director with a primary focus on meme marketing (I know), it has been fascinating to see how this movie has seeped into every corner of the internet almost immediately and shows no signs of slowing down. Tons and tons of different formats and templates on Twitter and Instagram, impressions and riffing on TikTok, etc. It's really fun to see since they're all being made and posted with a clear affinity for the source material.

 

Of course the audience thinks Paul is good, all he's done so far is lead the fremen to victory and freed them from harkonnen rule. The opposing point of view that he shouldn't be the one to lead them is voiced but when he does everything goes well for everyone with the only casualty being chani's feelings.

It's a good change to tell the audience earlier and foreshadow what Paul will become but we still they don't see any bad consequences in the movie.

 

A shocking amount of the general population think a holy war is a good thing

Straight up don't get invested in Dune being a great moral didactic story that people are just misinterpreting. Its written by one man in the 60s and he put all his ideas about history, ecology, sex, politics, religion, eugenics, evolution, into a really weird world and long ass book. Its super interesting to read but there's a lot of stuff that isn't going align with your values.

 

He pulled all his ideas from cocaine.

A friend asked me to see this last night so I went for a second time. He picked a 4DX showing….never again. That was very unenjoyable, like who actually prefers that format?

The jump scares I had from the air bursts by my ear was the worst part, happened at least 4-5 times.

 

More like the moo a dweeb.
