I've more or lessed banned youtube for my kids at home. It mainly started after Jason posted an article on here showing all the freaks that were uploading creepy an unsettling videos that would sneak their way into the kids video algorithms and automatically play next. The bonus was never having to watch those awful channels that kids get sucked into. Plus, between all the streaming services there's plenty for kids to watch

My father in law let my 3 year old watch some YT videos last weekend and by the time I caught on she was watching some really weird stuff lol. We really only show her Disney+/Disney Jr stuff

Yeah I stay away from YouTube. Watched one of those fake peppa pigs and there is just no reason for that lol

my gfs kids watch videos of these families in huge houses and it’s the fakest shit ever. Staying away from YouTube for as long as we can

Yeah I remember that deep dive article as well, and constantly think about it in relation to what's on YouTube. It's some freaky shit

My son doesn’t get control of it himself yet since he’s only 4, but yeah I constantly try to steer us away from YouTube stuff. He did get into Blippi a little bit and DannyGo floor is lava stuff, but not like super hardcore. Some of Blippi’s stuff is cool tbh, educational stuff.

Most of the shows he watches are PBS kids shows, Disney/pixar and other animated movies, and…suuuuper into Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit lol. Like, obsessed with Smaug, and Gandalf fighting the balrog, and the cave troll, and Legolas shooting arrows, etc.

I’m a little worried it’s a bit too violent for him this young, but idk…he really loves it.

  10. There is a suuuuuuuper fucked up and bleak Wired article going around about an online community with ties to Nazism that is convincing kids to harm themselves and others among other horrible activities (you can imagine), so if your kids play Minecraft or Roblox, now might be a good time to check in on that. Only sharing because my niece and nephew play and the article horrified me.

I've got a 4 year old son as well and I wouldnt dream of showing him LOTR. Not because of the violence, but because its my favourite story on Earth and when he first sees it, I want him to fully understand the sacrifice that Frodo made.

Took the boy on his first cross country flight to New York at 9-weeks. Even though he's a very chill guy we were worried about the plane, obviously, but also that he'd have to sleep through the night in the stroller bassinet instead of the Snoo and we weren't sure how he'd handle that.

Mf made basically no noise on either flight. Either slept, ate, or just looked around quietly the entire time. Also slept over 8hrs straight both nights in the hotel. This baby is so easy I truly feel like we're cheating and I'm terrified of having another baby because there's no reality in which we aren't punished for how cool this one has been.

For real. From night one at home he was sleeping at least seven hours total, we were having to set alarms to wake him up to feed.

We did sleep training at 7ish months and he's slept through the night for over a year straight now, but without sleep training it would have taken longer. Yes I know it's controversial but it def worked for us!

We’ve done it on 2/3 kiddos with stellar results. I’m all for it.

Sleep training saved us. Did it at 10-months, and he's been a great sleeper ever since. (He's now 15-months)

Wife had to wear headphones the first two nights, and we had a false start that nearly ruined everything haha, but so totally worth it

We applied the 3-minute rule, no excuses. Let him cry for 3 minutes, usually he was standing up in his cot. We'd assign a night each (me one night/mum the next, etc.) and just go in every 3 minutes if he was unsettled and crying, lie him down, saying "ssshhhhh" only with no other talking, put the dummy in if he'd lost it and walk out, restart the timer.

On the worst nights it was only 20 minutes of this until he self-settled, now he self-settles like a boss after like a minute.

Yeah sleep training worked so well for us. It was incredible. But now a year later she's hit a huge regression that she's been stuck in since November and has been in our bed way more often than I'd like

it's funny how everyone is just different, but with our kid we tried that check in thing, but every time we checked in it was WAY worse, like he completely got pissed off and reset, so we tried just straight up no check ins and that's what ended up working for him in the end

Not entirely sure what sleep training is but all 4 of our kids were sleeping on their own in the crib right around 3 months.

    Thanks!

yeah we did sleep training with all of ours. First 3 took really well to it and 4th struggled a bit but that may also be partially my fault for being neurotic about him waking his brother up so I’d go check on him more than I should have. 4th was really the only one that had any sort of noticeable sleep regression a few months later.
