I'm sure it's been written about somewhere but how would this actually functionally affect normal blue-collar workers

Anytime he does one of these I get depressed thinking about what could have been. As I prepare to hit the button on this month’s student loan payment

I haven’t seen the details but I assume it would mostly entail moving the overtime threshhold to 32 hours instead of 40…but I don’t know how that would work with salaried workers.

I would love it more than anything, and to be wrong, but I doubt I see a 32 hour work week in this country in my life.

I’ll settle for a 4 day workweek at this point, even if it is the same hours. I’d have to be at school probably an extra 1.5 hours or so every day, but every time we have 4 day weeks due to a day off, it’s so noticable how much more energy I have and how much more gets done at home

32-hour work week sounds fantastic but as I am about to be forced to go into the office for three days a week after doing only one day a week for almost four years based on nothing than a feeling of lack of productivity from c-suite management rather than any sort of data they can show, I am little bit cynical.

If I currently have a 35-hour workweek does that mean I’d be able to get that down to 28 hours heh

My new job will be four days of ten hour shifts once training is done. Looking forward to having three days off.

they floated this idea by us and then strung us all along for a while pretending it was going to happen but it turns out it's not. we are all very pissed about it not happening. I would kill for this.

How many jobs are actually out there that you need to be available 8 to 10 hours a day to achieve the requirements of the position? It’s all made up, companies just want to think they are getting the maximum worth out of you.

The teasing of it is so fucked up. And it’s 8-6:30. Still gives me time to do stuff in the evenings. 7-5:30 would be better, but I can’t complain that much about it.

My immediate boss here in Oslo comes in at 9am, and then leaves at 9pm most nights. Has literally 0 hobbies, seemingly enjoys his work, and only has dinner with his wife on weekends. Insane shit

we had multiple people leave around the same time and they were desperate to retain the rest of us, so they had asked us what would we like to see change in order to stay, and switching from 5 8-hour days to 4 10-hour days was the consensus amongst the rest of us. we had several meetings over the course of weeks and months where they said they were looking into a way to make it work but ultimately they told us it is a no go. later, my direct supervisor told me off the record that they were never seriously considering it even for a second and the entire process was them blowing smoke up our collective asses.

    wanna go for a ryyyde

i would do 4 10s in a heartbeat if it involved driving or multiple sites. if im in the same place all day every day though those 10 hours are LONG. would probably still be worth it though

He leads our sales/commercial team, so you can essentially set your own hours, but in a convo last fall to me he basically asked how much more commission did I think I would have made if I decided to stay at work a few more hours each day (this was in response to me telling him how little the job pays; I usually start around 8:15am and leave around 4:30/5:00pm, like a sane person). Frequently asks to know what I’m working on and give tips on how to make more money. I’m probably going to start looking for a new job in the next month or two
