The trailer was decent. Cautiously optimistic for this even though I didn’t like Men that much and I never finished Devs.

 

Devs rules. Love that shit.

 

I think I made it 3 episodes in and then fell off. Didn’t hate it by any means, but I just didn’t feel compelled to go any further.

I thought both tweets were a joke at first and that’s from someone that is going to see it just because it’s Garland

 

i think scott mantz is the type of dude that likes to have his quote on the blu ray

 

I’ve always like Scott Mantz. Not that I always agree with him, but he was always interesting to hear talk about movies. I did find him to be hyperbolic at times, so his tweet here makes me feel like I would likely enjoy the movie, even if not as much as him. I haven’t really followed him for awhile, but being an older critic, I don’t he has changed that much in 10 years or so.

Unrelated, but he was dead on about Ghost Protocol.

Walter Chaw is a real critic (and a tough one). Him liking this is a very good sign.

 

Nothing more annoying than the stupid “joke” or pretending something never happened because you didn’t like the films/work

Not that the trailers were terrible or anything, but I was not expecting these kind of positive reactions based on them. Definitely more optimistic now.

i read the THR review. One thing that stood out to me is that based on the review Garland seems less interested in litigating the flaws of America's political system than he is in dissecting America's mythologised exceptionalism

Seems like it's going to be more of a take on society/culture than it is going to be a political film.

 

Big week for movies that had not great trailers getting really good reactions/reviews
