I think Gunther drops the belt at WM or shortly after. He should be in the world title picture asap

may look foolish in a few weeks but I don't think Gunther is dropping the IC title any time soon. there's not a lot of space in the world title division right now, and there's still more to do with him before he chases the big gold. if drew wins at mania, there's still the program with punk they have to get to, which won't be for a while. there's probably some story with the judgement day left too. I could see Gunther holding onto the IC title until Rumble next year. Maybe they have him drop it at SummerSlam, but if he's not winning the world title basically immediately, why rush having him lose?

 

i remain believing it's going to Jey Uso down the road and hoping for otherwise

 

Gable will probably make it into the IC title match. Would be weird if they just left him hanging like that for weeks. His shoulders also weren’t down for the pin so there could be something there.

That and the Yen has lost a lot of value. These guys are cashing in while they can and I don’t blame them.

 

If anything, that would keep some of these guys around (Tanahashi as president now). But, if you're not one of the elite NJPW guys, and you watched Kenny, Jay, Will, and Okada all leave, you gotta know that a downturn is coming and the time to cash in is now.

Shibata's a little unique, but, I'd think Suzuki and a few others of that ilk would otherwise not have left if the big names were staying. Gotta assume Zach Sabre Jr is just a matter of time to AEW as well

Also, I agree with many others that there's just...no significant benefit. They're fine without him, they've been fine without him. He's not really a major draw anymore.

On one hand, the way they built the match made the end of the gauntlet match really intense, especially for two babyfaces. But someone had to lose & the way they built it for Gable was devastating. Sami might have been the right call if you’re keeping the belt on Gunther but I don’t know what they’ll do to keep Gable hot in the meantime.

 

When's the next Saudi show? I assume they have one in May after Backlash (maybe Memorial Day again)...could absolutely see the saudis wanting Brock. I think the last Saudi show was the first time Brock hasnt been on one.
