I don’t think I want to compare the two parts, I’d rather just see them as one long film.

 

Having rewatched Part 1, the last line of the film being "This is only the beginning" is so hilariously on the nose.

 

He is seriously just the worst.

We're looking at his comments from an absurdist late night comedy show and then calling him the worst? Sure why not.

Also it's pretty clear he didn't watch it. There's a scene where they couldn't punch the sand and had to relocate, implying something unique about the geography of arrakis. And sand "worm" is a colloquialism, the movie never discusses the anatomy of the worm, can't discuss it's movement.

didn't feel like he abandoned the fremen but he rapidly shifted into making the emperor the enemy not the harkkonens which seems like a selfish decision and comes off as such. I liked it that way, shows a flaw in paul. The fremen are still dedicated to him and he's fully embraced his position as their leader. Also the chani Paul dynamic is different in the book, she sticks with him because she knows that despite his proposal to irulan, it's all tactical not emotional. But the movie ending is far more dramatic.
