This song is EXCELLENT, I have high hopes for this album

  4. Is Joba doing a Beatles thing? Lmao

Yeah, I like that second Champion single more than the first.

I’m still betting Joba is the most likely to drop an actual classic solo album

(but the new Matt stuff is better than I even expected so who knows?)

  9. I would have never thought, but the clip he posted in that behind the scenes footage a few weeks ago sounded great.

I wonder how coordinated it is that they're basically all starting their rollouts at the same time. Almost feels like competition a bit?

Incredibly excited to see where Joba goes as a solo artist though, he's the biggest wildcard imo where it could really be anything

  12. I thought he was going by Russell Boring now? Either way, someone's been listening to a lot of Elton John and Randy Newman. I like it!

I honestly find it a little cringey how hard he tries to come across as an "eccentric artist" lol (something I've always thought about him) but I do really like this song, a super interesting direction

feels like Matt opened the floodgates and now they're all gonna rush to follow him lmao

speaking of I still haven't heard Mika's Laundry I'm slippin

I think Dom is completely independent, it looks like the album is just self-released on Spotify (COURTVISION is the company he started).

Haven't gotten to it yet but I'm excited to dive in, and also to his past solo stuff too which I've never really heard. He has two full albums on streaming too from 2012 and 2013 that I've never heard before

man River from that Dom album is so good. he's still got it folks

alright seeing as I just got caught up on all the solo stuff since the breakup that I care to hear, my first impressions:

    - Mika's Laundry is far and away the best of the bunch, maybe the best solo work any of them has done apart from American Boyfriend. really gorgeous, thoughtful and diverse stuff, may be one of the best albums this year

    - the Dom album has some issues, some iffy mixing and the runtime is way too short but there's potential there. Russian Cream, River and First Offering are all sick, he should follow that sound for a full-length project

    - Blanket is kinda not good lmao. I like the swing for a new genre and the sweet/innocent sound but the songs just really don't stack up. Scream is really lovely I'll give it that, but the singles and leaks from Beverly Daze were some of his best work so it's just baffling he scrapped that for this

    Blanket is very very bad

  22. It's an admirable swing and a miss. I wouldn't call it a good album (although the title track, "The Greys," and the closing track are all really good), but it's hard for me to call it outright bad because it seems like a genuine attempt at something new and it's more of an interesting failure than anything.

I’m definitely biased because I saw the songs live before they came out but Blanket is my favorite post-BH release. I do think all the songs are better live though

feel like I'm a rare Arizona Baby defender, some of his best songs on that thing
