One of my favorite things in wrestling is when something deathmatchy happens on a bigger show and the internet loses it's fucking mind over it like they just witnessed a puppy getting dropkicked.

My biggest gripe with the Darby spot is he was gonna miss the Jackson brother even if he didn’t move. I’m also numb to that guy taking insane bumps & getting up as if nothing happened.

Except he was down for most of the match after that spot. He didn’t get up as if nothing happened and that spot helped tell the story of Sting persevering over the Young Bucks by himself.

 

It’s scary how identical his son Garrett looks to how Sting looked in the late 80s lmao

 

I think anyone watching can acknowledge that the Darby spot was dumb just from a personal health standpoint, even if it was enjoyable/crazy in context. That's not me saying "they definitely shouldn't have allowed it", just, acknowledging that it was dumb for a human being to want to do.

If people want to get upset about something over that spot, it should be the glass flying at the fans on the floor.

Allin basically told everyone he'd kill himself in the ring to make the night memorable. I think we've all seen enough Darby stunts at this point to know that while he might be exaggerating a little, it ain't by much. I've seen people argue against it as a point of defending Sting's honor or some shit, like he didn't know it was coming and wasn't happy with it after the fact. If Sting came out and was like "that was terrible and I don't want to be associated with it," then fire away. But you don't get to police the legacy he wanted to leave.

Just save the ultra violent/dangerous/crazy stuff for HUGE moments. Don't desensitize people to it. If we start seeing random glass spots on Dynamite, then I'll take issue.
