I'm guessing they're waiting for Biden to do his SOTU address this week, to get his agenda out to a national audience, before finally beginning something resembling a campaign in the following weeks.

I haven’t looked at polling in a while but this presumes there isn’t a trade off of voters who see Israel/palestine as nothing more than Israel responding to a terrorist attack and know Hamas is a terrorist organization so they’re all for “Israel defending itself” because hey that’s what we did after 9/11. These are people not on social media habitually seeing videos of what’s happening to Palestinian people daily. Some of those polls earlier on in the conflict were like “do you disagree with Biden’s handling of Israel/palestine” and it’d be like 65% saying no, but then you’d dig into the next question and like 35% of that was people saying no because they thought he wasn’t doing enough lol. I hope those numbers have shifted by now but I haven’t really seen it because presidential horse race polls have taken over.

Before someone tries it, no I’m not saying that’s a good and valid reason for the US to keep doing what it’s doing. Just pointing out it might not be as cut and dry on gaining/losing voters as we think.

Huh? Where am I telling people not to protest and to go home?

Me thinks you don’t know what the Birmingham letter was written about.

For context I’m in Michigan, where again since you didn’t seem to care last time I brought it up, for large portions of the voting populace who turned out for Biden in 2020, largely young, Black, and Arab Americans, these are average voters very tuned into what’s happening in Gaza and it matters tremendously to them.

Convenient for the heavily gerrymandered to help right wing House huh. Funny how that works.

Dems are too chickenshit to do it but they should hold an immediate vote in the senate on barring him.

Yes but what about Wisconsin? Pa? (Fetterman’s approval went up after his heal turn!), Az? Georgia? NH? Etc etc etc…how many votes are gained or lost on net depending on which way you go? I really don’t know the answer to it. My personal opinion is you’ll lose votes either way so do the right thing, but maybe they’re worried more high propensity voters are on the “doing the right amount” or “not doing enough” sides. Or maybe they keep assuming it’ll be out of the public’s mind more come fall and domestic issues will be at the top.

Hilarious how much liberals in the media were sure the Supreme Court wouldn’t even have jurisdiction but not only did they hear the case all the liberal justices voted to overturn Colorado as well. The whole Supreme Court is drunk with power and dems are too chicken shit to do anything about it

best of luck. I hope it all works out for you.

just remember to buy it with cash and don't get sucked into one of those schemes where you end up paying the bank way more for the house over time

if you think they should do “the right thing” ultimately, I’m not sure why you have so much energy for randoms on Twitter. Yes, votes are won or lost wherever you go on the issue. Theres a sizable Zionist population in Metro Detroit, but I think that you’re again underestimating that a number of average voters do see what’s happening in Gaza and are against it completely. Polling is one thing but none of us actually know how well it correlates to what’s going to happen in November. For me, I wonder: do you win an election by holding to a morally reprehensible status quo that actively goes against what significant portions of your base want, or do you win by actively inspiring turnout with strong positions on the important issues? I guess you could say Biden’s unequivocal support of Israel committing a genocide is a strong position on an important issue but I don’t think it’s one that will drive turnout for him tbh

Thanks! We time traveled back to 2020 to get a 2.5% interest rate so we’re fine!

well that’s where the turnout vs. convincing argument continues. Base turnout is what we all want to win elections, but unfortunately all data out there seems to point to it still being about convincing the undecideds, which tend to be “in the middle” or more accurately have no true ideological direction

Like 14 people in the 1.5% of the population that makes up a dedicated American “left” hold the actual view that Biden losing is about sending a message to the Dems. Shut up!

maybe, but I think a lot more of them than that don’t believe there will be truly worse outcomes for millions more under Trump rather than Biden and that is very wrong and is worth pointing out!
