I know a lot of folks have been less and less interested in their releases post-Greatest Hits (I thought NED was better than other folks rated it though) but I still at least give their new albums a chance. The fact that I saw them at a 400 capacity venue in the Greatest Hits era like 6 years ago and the show was sold out and they are playing the same venue this time around and it hasn’t/likely won’t sell out is wild. The fall off is real.

Look. I met my wife at a Remo Drive show. I listened to Greatest Hits probably 100 times the summer we met. I even defended NED.

But this new song is very bad.

  3. The drop off this band had should be studied

I like all of their albums but this song feels kinda off

I’m all for an artist doing what they want to do in regards to their direction of their music but the change in sound to me was SO DRASTIC that it made me not want to listen to the rest of their material. The new songs are fine. Their catalog since 2019 is fine. But Greatest Hits was lightning in a bottle. I’ve heard a lot of it has to do with the drummer quitting and that steering the band in a different direction but idk. Probably not gonna give the new stuff repeat listens cuz it’s not for me.

I think I'm the only fan of this band who can't get into Greatest Hits (it's fine but the mix is rough) but loves NED. I didn't care for the last album though.

    It’s quiet in here…

didn’t love the new album my first few listens, but it has grown on me immensely even though it’s a different band at this point. Solid songwriting, if anything I just wish the instrumentals popped a little bit more.

i also think the last two albums are criminally over- hated i dig all their projects

I really dig this and the last album. They picked up the sound of Nightmare of You and ran with it.

I should give it another try. If I just take it in as songs and in a sense sonically an entirely different band, I feel like I’ll enjoy it more.

all i’ll say is that i listened once and that was more than enough for me

I do feel like a name change would benefit them in a way based on the fact this album has almost none of their sonic DNA, but I always will be a fan of Eric’s songwriting

  12. Thought the new album was actually pretty good! Better than the last for sure. A very '70s, soft rock sound. I think a name change doesn't make sense at this point, but agree they feel like a very different band.

I think this album is climbing up to “great” territory
