this kinda ties into what I was saying the other day about there not being many signs or indications that Biden is planning some big policy flip right near the election, or that he would even accept this idea from advisors / handlers if it were floated to him

I think Joe Biden is actually being uncharacteristically decisive and proactive here, albeit in a way that many in his party or it's broader coalition do not like

the strategy as far as the election is concerned seems to be ignore this as much as possible, point out other awful, terrible yet unrelated things about donald j trump, and quadruple down on being the only choice against trump and the dismantling of our democracy

I’m sure we’ll get “sources” saying the White House is close to a deal on a ceasefire anytime

I don't know either of these people, but most of the points by both of them here are true, so I don't see how that first perspective is that insane really...

I don't like how it handwaves away how bad another trump term will be for a lot of people and the country as a whole, which is in itself a massive understatement, but also Biden probably does have to lose this upcoming election for there to be any serious changes to the current Democratic party

kinda just all pointing out how fucked this current situation in the US actually is

“Progressive” is such a meaningless term in the context of the Democratic Party at this point. Means nothing, or anything. Whatever.

Dems losing this election is going to have them looking at the progressive spending policies they passed and say “well those didn’t win”, combined with all the Haley-Biden voters these polls are showing and they’re gonna change by running a more moderate platform—with absolutely nothing changing about the one issue everyone is saying they shouldn’t win for. It’s terrible strategy that will do way more harm than good.
