Bardo was inventive but didn’t really work overall. He’s a super interesting visual director who seems to have come to a point where has to decide if he finds enough redeemable in human beings to keep telling stories about them.

I know the answer is money, but why do these executives work in an industry that makes art when they seem to actively hate art?

 

It's because they were in that late 2010's media trend where execs were actually buying into the bullshit data they were being given about mobile viewing being the future. That's also how you got Quibi.

When I worked for Nielsen do you know when our CEO was like "streaming is overtaking linear tv viewing at a much higher rate than we expected and now we have to pivot how we measure " ? October of 2023. Like 5 months ago. That is how fucking out touch the people these companies are getting their data from are.

 

I hate all the rich idiotic out of touch assholes running everything. Cancel completed movies but not student debt. Make ai tools more accessible but not housing and health care.

 

It's the STEMification of society. It's when you have media execs and political strategists that would much rather be working for Apple or Google making decisions based off data science ( which is 90% made up horseshit) instead of people who have experience in the field and instincts .
