I think I read that they've been running Gunther vs Gable on house shows

 

They have and boy if we get that man it’ll be awesome

 

I was of the belief that Sami would be added to the World title match, but I now think it's just as likely he ends up being the guy to face Gunther. Him saying he's got to stop focusing on Drew kind of made me pivot.

I wouldn't read into Gunther and Gable working house shows. WWE hasn't really done the "get guys acclimated with each other before a big feud" house show thing in many years. They're more apt to put matches on that they've already done to death on TV and have no plans to revisit for a long while - hence Seth Rollins working with Nakamura constantly in the fall, and now Cody slotting into that spot.

 

Honestly though that doesn’t do anything for Sami. He doesn’t need another reign with the IC title

 

I'm not necessarily arguing it's the best option, just where I think they might be going.

I do think it's tough to compare his previous IC title runs with what winning now could mean, though. Gunther has elevated that title to a place it legitimately hasn't been since like, the mid to late 90s. I'd argue it's got about as much cache as the World Title, given how hard they've gone out of their way to dog that thing in recent weeks.

 

Aside from the confirmed matches, the obvious ones seem to be Truth and Miz vs Judgement Day, Rhea vs Becky, Drew vs Seth, Jimmy vs Jey

you guys could be right about Gunther and Gable. KO vs Logan 2? Knight vs AJ? Bianca vs Jade? No idea where the Sami storyline is going. Probably gonna be a few multi person matches just so they can get people on the show

 

sami shouldn't beat gunther, but that would be a super dope mania match IMO

I think it needs to be given to someone who needs the rub. Sami stays over no matter if he loses 50 straight. I’d like to see him win it tho.

Gable would be cool. Breaker would be fine too.

would be happy w Sami, happier w Gable, but think someone like Bron is absolutely how you maximize the moment

 

I thought Bron would be the move following the Rumble, but then he signed with Smackdown. Would be very strange for Triple H to do that and then just immediately have him challenge for the IC title. Very uncharacteristic, unless they set up some tournament style situation from both brands to establish a contender, which would work fine, I guess.

Sami said he needs to do something historic. With the current stories him facing Gunther would be logical. No idea about Gable’s push but him beating Ivar would presumably mean that feud is over and leaves him free. Can’t picture a triple threat between them but who knows
