A couple new Wristmeetrazor tracks dropped. Definite nu metal vibes in both the sound and album art

  4. From A Second Story Window put out their first song since 2008.

Feels closer to their earlier deathcore-y work than I expected.

you're in a cult, call your dad

lil bit of self-promo but we just dropped a split with The Holy Ghost Tabernacle Choir (Savannah, GA) and the video for one of our tracks came out today.

chaotic metalcore stuff ffo: Gaza, ETID, Knocked Loose, etc.

entire split is streaming everywhere, but our bandcamp is linked below with all the tracks, too. Holy Ghost's is next level good.

    thx :)

Can y'all give me a list of your favourite bands in this genre?

I was big on metalcore back in the day... The likes of Woe is Me, Asking Alexandria (first album), DGD, Escape the Fate (first 2 albums ), Emarosa, Saosin, Hands like Houses, Sleeping with Sirens (first album) amongst others..

I think the only bands I now listen to that can be classed as post harcore/metalcore are The Devil Wears Prada and Northlane and occasionally dip into the older stuff from bands listed above... Would love to know if there's any current bands that i'm missing out on that you can recommend.

Invent Animate and Spiritbox are definitely my favorite current gen metalcore artists. I find a lot of the really djenty-stuff popular rn is kinda boring and I feel like the scene is lacking vocalists that really stand out. But those 2 are great.

  13. I’ve been tired of the anthemic djent and alt metal infused template that I’ve heard too much in the past decade so I barely follow the genre and am certainly missing out on great stuff. I’d say, outside of veteran bands, the ones that do catch my attention are those that deviate from it or are more on the chaotic, math-y side.

Northlane is probably my top favorite right now. The way they implement the electronic influences makes them stand out and is unmatched in the scene imo.

The Devil Wears Prada has been great at using the formula above without sounding generic or losing their essence, even still late into their career.

Silent Planet change things up just enough to still feel fresh and I love the industrial flair they’ve started adding lately. Also they still got memorable riffs for days.

Wasn’t a fan of Spiritbox at first but they turned things around for me with their recent EPs. Very excited to hear them keep evolving on the upcoming full length, especially with Jordan Fish helping out on the production side.

Johnny Booth released one of my 2023 favorites. What I loved about it is hearing something that leaned more into the chaotic and math-y side but still felt anthemic anyway. Kinda reminded me of letlive in that sense. I feel like that’s a type of metalcore that’s not been popular lately, but I’d love to be wrong if anyone has more stuff in that vein to recommend.

    That was long, my bad!!

Silent Planet’s new release (Collider) is really great, a pretty enticing place to start for newcomers.

a couple specific songs I’ve been jamming lately are Veil of Maya’s (Re)connect and Make Them Suffer’s Ghost of Me. Both really accessible, fun songs.

I barely listen to current metalcore but if I had to make one rec it would be Bleed From Within. They remind me a ton of Parkway Drive from the Deep Blue/Atlas era.

    idk man

There are very few bands in the metalcore scene that are legit exciting to me but the two I will always champion are Loathe and Thornhill, they scratch that Deftones shoegaze inspired itch while maintaining that ferocity that people go into the genre looking for.

There's also Make Them Suffer who are easily the best within the typical hallmarks of the genre.

My short* list of must-listen metalcore bands would be:

    Johnny Booth
    Silent Planet
    Half Me
    Invent Animate
    Gideon
    The Callous Daoboys
    Bloom
    Dying Wish
    Graphic Nature

There are certainly more, but these guys really are leading the way for my current tastes and what I'm liking. I'll admit my tastes have leaned more into the pissed off side of the house the last couple of years, but I feel they are the groups doing really cool stuff.
