We put in for financial aid at the two privates mentioned here. Didn't get nearly as much as we'd like/almost definitely not enough to afford to continue it shall we have a 2nd kid like we want. We DID get into the free montessori charter school. We're pretty excited about that. I still want to keep him at his current montessori preschool for another year and have him do their "Kindergarten Enrichment" program which we could then see how he does with it and send him into 1st grade or Kindergarten the next year if we feel he needs more seasoning. But my wife is all in on sending him to Kindergarten next year. I really hate the idea of him being young for his grade, makes me worry about his future. Sigh.

But looks like we're probably going with the free montessori charter. Our only complaint with it is there's no green space since it's in the city. They do have an "outdoor" play area that's covered with a dome and has high fenced in windows. But it's just not the same as having an open field to run in and etc. But montessori is just a great system for education. I do feel abd he won't be in any of our local community schools in our district and grow up a part of this community like I did, but until the elementary curriculum gets away from the testing regime reading/writing/math all day shit, I'd just rather him go to a montessori school.

Joining the potty training convo late. Our son just turned 3, and goes to preschool, so he's "potty trained". He pees in the bathroom most of the time, but WILL. NOT. poop in the toilet. He goes and brings us a pull up and tells us he needs to poop. I know he'll grow out of it eventually, but it'd be real cool if I could stop having to buy the things. I do think there's also some regression with peeing when he has it on, because he'll also pee in it as a matter of convenience if he already has one on.

Idk if this well help but this book might be worth trying out, I think it helped my daughter get the concept. She was afraid of falling into the toilet. This book shows a kid pooping on a toilet and compares him with an adult, a toddler on a potty, and a baby in a diaper, along with animals and stuff. It just helps make the whole process seem normal to a child lol

    Everyone Poops - Wikipedia

Also, my daughter still has accidents from time to time even though I definitely consider her trained. For some kids I think it's just more of a gradual process than an on/off switch.

Yeah our daughter is now doing pretty good after a month, she doesn't have accidents anymore and has gone #1 and #2 on the big potty and her little potty. Only issue now is that she won't use the portable toilet seat in a public restroom, which forces us to lug her little potty around. And I think she's gotten into the pattern of waiting until we put a diaper/pull-up on her for nighttime/naptime and she'll just poop in that.

She's come far, but still needs work

our big issue now is co-sleeping. she's going through this thing where she wants to get in our bed every night. at first she'd wake up a few hours after being put down, but now she'll want to come into our bed right away. Her bedtime is 7:30 - 8 PM and we're like, ok do we just not have nights to ourselves anymore? Is one of us going to be forced to be in our bed with her at 8 every night while she figures this out??

anyways this madness led to use ordering a king size bed finally lol

Our son is adopted, so we did some things differently with sleep in order to make sure that bond was built between us. He took his naps only on us when he was young, we always rocked him to sleep before putting him in his crib, and sometime in the 1-2 age range we got him a full-size bed in his room. So what that looks like now is that we lay with him in his bed until he falls asleep (usually around 8:30), get up, I go to sleep in my room at 11-12ish, he comes and asks me to lay down with him again around 1, and I'm so tired I usually just keep sleeping in there until it's time for us to wake up. Just gotta do whatever you can for everyone to get some sleep. Feel like that's different for everyone.

Is your daughter still in a crib? Or does she have her own bed?

Both of my kids never slept through the night when they were in a crib, they always wanted to sleep in our bed. I was always worried that we were gonna have those kids that never get out of the habit of sleeping in our room, but thankfully when we did end up getting them their own bed, things changed significantly, they never wanted to get out of it and started sleeping really well in their own room.

How much money do you think Ms. Rachel could raise if she sold parents a "Get Drunk with Ms. Rachel" digital wine night event lol

I’d rather have a beer with Blueys dad and ask him why he’s a better father than me

I watch so much Bluey. If I’m being honest it’s probably my favorite show right now.

She's still in a crib, but she's been in a sleep regression since Thanksgiving or so. We're a ways out from the bed but I hope it's not a whole thing to get her out of our bed. I don't want to be one of those parents who has their kid co-sleep with them for months just because it seems like it would be a very difficult habit to break

My son's watched a few Bluey episodes but didn't get super into it. I had honestly never heard of it until he was 3 already so maybe just started too late. He's still into Sesame Street and a bunch of other PBS shows.

He'll be five soon so I assume he'll grow out of some of those soon. I'm already sad thinking about the end of the Sesame Street days.

Bluey is good for 5 year olds for sure. They hype from adults gets to be a bit much, I have seen the show 6 or 7 times through and it’s a great kids show but yeah I’m sick of it like I would be seeing anything 7 times in a year. Still a great kids show though, would much rather watch it on repeat than Blippy or the other dumb stuff they put out for kids.
