Having some deeply fucked sugar cravings today. Actually bought a donut at my coffee shop this AM, but i figured I’d hate myself so i threw it out before eating it. Felt like a disordered eating type of moment.

I’ve cut out sugar completely aside from fruits and dark chocolate in a trail mix I’ve made, and I’m trying not to eat pastries/desserts outside of someone’s birthday party or something. I’ve lost a good amount of weight (about 14 pounds over the past 6 weeks) and i want to keep that moving forward, feel like cutting fried food and processed sugar is most of the reason why - and getting my 10K steps a day. But this AM i struggled hard lol

Anyone trained doing calisthenics exercises? I'm been trying to get more into that and controlling the movement of my body and muscles more. Lately I've been lifting for 3 days a week and doing calisthenics 2 days out of the week. Not sure if it's good to alternate between the two or fully commit.

  5. For runners: what’s your typical 10k time? I’m starting to practice these on the treadmill. I don’t usually run past 3 or 4 miles so it’s been a challenge once I get about 3/4 way through. My time today was 1:02

i wouldn't look to compare yourself to others. that's what, about a 10:00/mile pace on the dot? That's good! If you're getting tired at the third period, you're starting out too strong. The fastest (not fast, just fastest) part of your run should be the end, not the beginning. Leave some gas in the tank to cross the finish feeling and looking good. Make sure you've got the treadmill doing some variations of incline amounts and not just running a flat grade too.

I haven't exercised much cause I've been moving and omg its humbling af. I need to get in shape just to move. Moving is the ultimate excercise. I'm moving from a 3rd floor walk up to a 2nd floor walk up. My calves were so sore the second day I got crazy cramps in them and it was awful. No leg day could prepare me!

I've put on a few more pounds than I'd like after stagnating for the past couple months, I like to think some of that is related to putting on muscle mass but it's time to rein in the diet some.

Anywhere from 50 min to an hour. Typical pace is 8:30-9:00 minute per mile.

  12. Okay did another 10k today and got 1:05. However, no slowing down this time. Started at an easier pace and gradually got faster by the end. Goal was to hit the entire 10k without walking for a rest and I did that, so it was a success

I just moved to a new building without a gym and I keep procrastinating enrolling in the gym near me because anxiety is dumb. But I'm paying for it already because I am enrolled in the program thru my health insurance but I need to go to the gym and actually sign up on their end. If I don't enroll today ban me from this website as punishment @Jason Tate thnx xoxo

Update: I signed up! It was super easy and fast since I'd already enrolled thru my health insurance and just needed to sign up on their end. But it's more intimidating than my old gym, which was a local racquetball club with a big mix of eldery, pregnant, super fit people, etc and i loved it. Almost everyone I saw here was very fit. The color scheme and marketing is def for an intense warehouse look where like Rocky would train. I only went in to sign up and not excercise since I'm exhausted from a show last night, but I was like :embarrassed:

I signed up cause it's close to my house and participates in the health insurance program. Hopefully I acclimate soon!

Due to my litany of health woes yoga is one of the only forms of exercise I can reliably do without worrying about getting hurt, other than I guess weightlifting which I’ve always struggled with due to being unable to put on a lot of weight.

I do CorePower which has a variety of intensities/heat levels, but still will do more gentle poses and flows through YouTube vids on my own mixed in every once in a while.

I finally moved and have recuperated from all of that and have gotten fairly settled so I'm getting back into the habit of excercising at the level I enjoy and it's nice. Hoping it'll help my sleep schedule too. Helps that it's not pitch black when I'm off work anymore. Psychologically feels like there's more hours in the day to excercise.

I tried a few times now, just can't get into it. Might be my ADD or something, but I find it boring and itching to do something else.

  20. Wary of posting in here because fitness and weight can be a trigger for me, but does anyone have a preferred program they've used to help lose weight in the past? Not looking for a major overhaul as much as I am looking to drop like 30 pounds by the fall before my wife and I start trying to have kids. I've had positive experiences with WW in the past, but am considering trying Noom this time around.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Cut calories, if you can. Try to focus on a diet filled with fruit, veggies, grilled chicken, salmon/seafood.

Try to cut out fast food, pop, candy, junk food, etc.

And then try some light exercise (walking, light jogging) for 20-30 minutes per day or find a hobby that is fun that involves exercise so you’re not actually thinking about exercising (biking, sports)

Dieting is the main thing, imo.

  23. Yeah, keto made some of my friends sick, I'm not convinced it's super healthy or sustainable tbh

Yeah, these are the hallmarks and I'm working on them. Grilled chicken and fruit are easy for me, I'm not much of a seafood guy. I definitely struggle with salty snacks, but I'd like to restrict them to Fridays if possible along with allowing myself to go somewhere for lunch at work that day. As of right now, I don't have any equipment at the house, but I'm doing 40-50 push-ups every other day and I just started walking on the off-days, again taking Fridays off. These are things I can try to do and sustain, I've just always felt like an app or program gives me the extra personalization and motivation to push myself a little further.

Oh god I’ve been eating like 5 meals a day and not working out at all over the past week while on vacation. I only gained about 3 pounds but I feel terrible. I’m both excited to and dreading going back to working out

So I tried a semaglutide low dose for a short term because I don't rly have longterm access. Idk if anyone here has tried it. I know it's pretty divisive so idk I'm gonna do a spoiler cut.

I took rybelsus which is in pill form. I think I had a misconception that I could take it short term but long enough for my body to adjust and then keep the habit. But nope! That was def a delusion. Again I know it's a controversial thing so I'm not trying to persuade or dissuade anyone here. Just speaking from my experience it felt so mentally freeing. I have a complicated relationship with food and think about it constantly. One thing ppl who take it talk about is having less "food noise" which is just not thinking about food as often. You don't feel hungry as much so you're not craving food. I didn't realize how much I thought about food until I stopped thinking about it so much. I've been off of semaglutide for months and am back to planning my days around food. Even today after my workout I contemplated eating and had to really check in with my body and realized I wasn't hungry, I just didn't rly have anything else to do so my brain was thinking about eating a snack and prob felt conditioned to receive a reward since I see food as a reward. It's the psychological component that's so hard for me. I don't think I was even on the meds long enough to have any significant weight-related results but man it felt nice to feel like I had a hack for the psychological struggle and not have it occupy so much of my mental energy.
It's def possible for me to do without meds but is a lot of work and constant reframing and mental check ins. I'm trying to focus on moderation and drinking lots more water. I don't have a scale so I am not looking for certain numbers but hope to feel healthier and stronger which I know involves eating lots of food, just more protein-focused. I've been really slacking on my vegetables lately, which as a vegetarian is pretty not great lol and is def prob contributing to my lack of energy and I'd wager an iron deficiency. I'm due for a yearly check up so I'm gonna get labs done and then go from there!
