Man, this Greet Death album is excellent. I’ve seen the name around, but never pressed play on them for some reason. Wish I did a lot sooner. Love it

Glad someone picked Greet Death. When Deathwish speaks, you listen. They have never disappointed. EXTREMELY depressing but gorgeous and towing that line between folk and shoegaze. They are featured on the new Infant Island album but tread lightly as it is VASTLY different. But an AOTY contender.

Cruise through Deathwish's website because there a lot of great stuff on there:
    -New Gouge Away coming soon
    -Modern Life is War
    -New Frail Body coming soon
    -Remixed/Remastered Touche Amore

I’ve heard the name quite a bit and always assumed they were heavier. I didn’t hate this but I’m starting to think Shoegaze as a whole is just not a genre I’m super into.

I think I’ll throw it on again when I’m going to bed tonight, this energy might work better for me then.

  5. Fwiw, this is shoegaze adjacent, but that isn't the first descriptor I would put on them. Closer to dreamy post-hardcore or stoner rock, maybe even space rock. But genres are bullshit anyways so what do I know lol

It’s like…shoegazy grunge with some folk. Some songs remind me of Smashing Pumpkins

  7. If folks like this, they should absolutely listen to New Hell, their most recent EP. I love Dixieland too, but Harper's voice has gotten better with each release, and I think New Hell is probably their best songwriting yet.

The line on this one that always gets me is "Shiver as the factory flames dance like specters by the highway." Just beautiful writing.

  14. Dixieland is also great! "The Waste" goes so hard

  15. Love to see a Nick Diener production credit. A few songs into the album, and I was about to make a comment about how I thought this was going to be heavier, then the middle of "You're Gonna Hate What You've Done" explodes.

Wasnt really feeling New Hell but then track three was cool and then kind of settled in for the rest of the album.

some of the vocals can be pretty rough in spots but that was my only real critique
