Season One by Greg Pak and Emma Rios
The Oath by Brian K Vaughan and Marcos Martin

The former is an origin story, and the latter also addresses the character's origins via flashback. Both are well written with great art.

Thanks! I'm going to check those out. The art looks sweet in Aaron's. I'm going to read Season One now.

The artwork is also some of my favourite stuff out of everything I've read.

Season One was great. Really digging the world and it's awesome to see that some of the incantations come from HP Lovecraft. I started Aaron's and I already love it. The first few pages where they used old pages from a previous origin story was a really smart way to introduce a new series.

Got these two (and the Lee/Romita ASM omnibus) in the mail today.

OML: Bordertown was really good, though the arc could have used another issue or two. Still, it was an effective story with good emotional beats and intense art. Fans of the original Millar OML can (and really should) read this story without the Bendis Secret Wars tie-in or first Lemire arc.

Also read the first miniseries collected in the X-23 Complete Collection, Innocence Lost (which tells her origin). I'm not very into Billy Tan's art (he's one of those poor man's Jim Lee types), but I was very invested in the story, in spite of already knowing it. As much as I hate the tradition of women with traumatic backgrounds, I also love that manipulation and tragedy are central to both Logan and Laura's pasts; in some ways, this is a sloppier version of BWS's original Weapon X tale, but with the added weight of childhood.

I've also recently read issues 1-12 out of 19 of Greg Rucka's Wolverine run, which was just my kind of Logan tale. And, also reread Logan by BKV and Risso, which I appreciated even more than the first time around.

Even if the Logan film sucks, it gets credit for giving me an excuse to aggressively revisit my second favorite comic book character, who I haven't explored in too long. There's more Wolverine material out there I'm not interested in than that I am, but when he's done right, I appreciate so much about him.

Read Dark Night:A True Batman Story and I really don't know if it could be more perfect. Paul Dini at his best in a very therapeutic experience.

Recommend to anybody that's every watched Batman:The Animated Series or is a fan of Batman period.

I definitely need to pick that up soon.

Went to the shop today and picked up a bit more than I expected. They had a cool Love and Rockets variant that I grabbed.

Yeah I've been meaning to read True Story. Picked up new issues of Batman Beyond, Flash, Suicide Squad, Batgirl, Detective Comics, Saga, and The Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary Special and the Punisher Halloween Annual.

Honestly at this point I'm more excited to read Saga than anything.

Officially dropped Justice League and... All-Star Batman. I've spoken well of each issue, and I have liked each one a decent bit and am into the plot, but... I don't know. It's not the most fulfilling read one issue at a time. I'll catch up down the road.

I also picked up all of Superman thus far and added it, so now my DC pull is:
    -Batgirl
    -Green Lanterns
    -Superman
-(if it counts) Shade the Changing Girl

Also got the rest of the Rucka Wolverine run and my pull (Batgirl, Silver Surfer, Saga, Ms Marvel, Civil War II), and had the shop order in that Love and Rockets from last week.

Guy writing in is a doctor. guy and wife just had a baby. Dude is having problems with his wife.

The guy said hes got a new patient hes very attracted to. theyve bonded over comics. he was basically asking BKV if he should act on his desire to cheat on his wife with his patient or not be a cheating asshole.

Detective Comics was great this week, really looking forward to the Victim Syndicate. Glad that Batwoman and her team are still around for the time being. Is Bloom the leader of the Syndicate (on the cover)? I can't tell if that's him or not.

Also "Reach for the sky....or I'm gonna war-crime you in the face."

    LOTS of comic reading today!

Rocked out Superman #1-9. Realized I had already bought and read #1... Oops. Anyways, this series is too good to trade-wait. Superman is one of my 2 favorite DC characters at this point, and this is just what I like to see from him. Honestly, this could be DC's best book right now. Hopefully no Action Comics crossovers come along any time soon to derail it! The focus on the family dynamic is wonderful, and the issues with Gleason art are so striking and perfect.

Also read those last 7 issues of the old Rucka Wolverine run, "Return of the Native." A definitive step down from "The Brotherhood" and "Coyote Crossing," but I'm still happy about finishing it out.

    As for new comics:
-Silver Surfer is literally flawless forever and should be on everyone's pull, no exceptions.
-Ms Marvel was a fun one-issue story; I expected the trip to last longer, but it accomplished everything it needed to.
-Saga was good, as it always is, but besides really digging Petrichor, I'm starting to become numb to its goodness.
-Batgirl was decent, again, but I'm ready for the next arc.
-Civil War II had a relatively uneventful issue for a big event series, with this being the first issue that felt a tad aimless, but when this whole story is read at once instead of in an oft-delayed series, these down moments will likely read better.

I received in the mail an awesome artist's proof edition of Huck, and just ordered an artist's proof edition of Wytches. I can't wait. I'll post photos when I get a chance.

glad to see others are enjoying Superman as much as me. that, Green Arrow, and Detective Comics have been my favorites of rebirth so far. Flash and All Star Batman I also think have been really good. Justice League I've really had trouble getting into, probably dropping that.
