  1. It’s really hard to top Kenny’s run. So I’d say him. And just because a lot of my personal favorite Danielson matches were even pre-WWE

I think the only person that’s rivaled that of Kenny overall has been Ospreay (and will honestly probably surpass it when we look back in 5-10 years)

If we're talking only in ring then it's probably Kenny, but Danielson defined the generation accomplishing what he did, where he did, when he did. If the roles were reversed and Kenny was in WWE during that time and Danielson New Japan, I don't think Kenny gets to Bryan's level in popularity, while Danielson likely has or comes very close to the same quality of matches

Danielson is also my fav of all time so im biased sry

Still makes me feel ancient that Yesmania Bryan winning the belts at WM30 was 10 years ago

I love Kenny, loved the belt collector storyline. But still, it feels like he did not peak as much in AEW as i would have thought when aew started.

Probably bc of all the injuries, but yeah..

I knew that Kenny was looked at as that dude by other wrestlers when Seth Rollins suddenly started using the V-Trigger with the Rainmaker set up from Omega/Okada 1 as his finisher

danielson for sure. however, they might be the best two north american pro wrestlers of all time so its a very 1a/1b vote imo. very different but also incredibly similar in how they make me forget that anything else matters when they're in the ring.

I think I’d say Danielson. I don’t wanna say Omega phones it in at times but I feel like Omega’s been mostly playing it safe in AEW.

I think Omega is probably the better overall in terms of pure body of work, but if we’re talking about the complete package - most significantly, getting people to FEEL something, I’d take Bryan over him and almost anyone.

i definitely go Danielson, i think honestly in every single department. Kenny is incredible but Danielson is approaching 25 years of a blemish-free body of work and i think is capable of having classics with a much larger variety of styles both in opponents and in different booking philosophies. Danielson works if he walks out of a cave with an eye patch in 1912, 2024, or 2065. there will never be a negative critical reevaluation of Danielson at this point and Omega has always been polarizing

also Kenny's humility in AEW was to his and the company's discredit in hindsight imo, it is cool and honorable but he spent the tail end of his physical peak lower on the card out of choice

I was going to mention this as a pretty significant knock, too.

When AEW launched, my hope and expectation was that they were going to build the entire company around him as the center piece. Essentially, it felt like a vehicle to give Omega a massive playground without him having to alter his style and conform to WWE. He was a unique act in that it felt like he should be leading a major American company, but WWE probably wouldn’t “get” him.

And that just never materialized. We got the belt collector heel run, but it came later and never really felt like the peak of what could have been.

In reality, we’re probably now formally past the point of it ever happening and it’s weird to think that of all things, his own personal humility probably robbed us of something really special.

def agree with all of this, though id argue the only reason the belt collector run fell short of its potential was because of the pandemic, even my favorite matches lose a full letter grade w no crowd and being limited to places he could drive... AAA's belt and Rich Swann's Impact belt don't really convey industry dominance haha. the matches were imo just as good as most stuff that preceded it, i just don't consider it his physical peak because he was falling apart the beginning and destroyed himself by the end of it

  15. They can make it all better by doing Omega/Okada in a 10 hour ironman match.

to be perffffectly clear i loved the Kenny/Hangman title run and wouldn't trade it for the world, just dovetails with other more unfortunate circumstances to create a situation where his definitive bell to bell work is mostly elsewhere

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I think Kenny took a backseat early on in AEW to rest his body more too. Dude has been banged up for so long, his NJPW run is one of the most legendary match runs I can remember and if definitely wrecked his body.

  18. I wouldn't be shocked if Will toned it back a tad when he debuts too. That dude has done banger after banger after banger for like 4 years straight.

He doesn't need to do Will stuff in Duluth GA or Alabama every week

yeah Will's work ethic is insane, idk if there are two people i can tell just fuckin love wrestling more in all they do than Ospreay or Danielson. no side gigs ever just wrestle wrestle wrestle

As much as I love Kenny, Danielson really invigorated me when I got back into wrestling especially during the Yes! movement and even when he was with the Wyatts, he's definitely been my favorite since he joined AEW, never been disappointed in his AEW work.
